He's stepped it up bigtime in the last few weeks.

Tallinder is the Sabres best D-man as of right now. He plays in all situations and also is out there against the other teams best players.

I agree totally. Tallinder is playing very well as is Lyudman. If we had 1 more top defensemen and Brierre back we could make a good run at the cup.

Tallinder has been very solid all season.
I've thought all year he's the best at defending 2 on 1's with honorable mention to Numminen.
McKee is our #1, but Tallinder is our new #2.
The good news is yes, he seems to be getting better. Gotta hand it to the scouting staff. They sure know how to evaluate and draft good defensemen.

Yeah, they find them. Then it's up to Darcy.
Sometimes he even signs them.
And of those, sometimes he even keeps them instead of trading them. But, not too often.
Anyone see Ballard last night? :erm:

It's hard to rank our defense. For the most part, they are a solid unit that compliment other member’s deficiencies.
It's a rare game that you point to the defense and say, "man they lost that game for us".
I still would like to see an upgrade.

Ballard is going to be a top 2 D-man for a long time BUT Drury filled a huge hole in the Sabres that was missing since Peca. You have to give up good stuff to get something good in return most of the time.

agreed. i really think our defense is very solid. I have been unhappy with fitzie and kalinen, and I didnt like tallinder, but I will admit he has stepped it up and has improved. He is a very smart D-man as well. And YES, he is better than fitzie.

Ballard is going to be a good player. Every time I watch Phoenix I am impressed with his play. I have no problem with the trade, I am just giving Ballard props for his solid play.
