The Buffalo Bisons will open their 2006 home schedule on Friday, April 14 against the Columbus Clippers (New York Yankees). The game will be part of an eight-game homestand with the first four games against the Clippers and the last four (April 18-21) against the Richmond Braves.

“We are pleased to announce our home schedule for the 2006 season,” said Bisons Vice President/General Manager Mike Buczkowski. “This schedule should be a great continuation of our successful 2005 season as we add more dates during the summer and on the weekends.”

46 Summer Dates, 34 Weekend Dates Highlight 2006 Campaign
The Bisons have added three summer dates and an extra weekend date from their 2005 season. Next year, the Herd will play 64 percent of their schedule during the summer months of June, July and August. The team has 16 home games in both June and August (the most dates in a month in 2006) with 14 more dates in July. Almost half of those games will also be played on the weekend, with seven dates in June, seven in July and five in August on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The Bisons will be home for five of seven Friday nights from June 23 to August 5.

The Bisons will play only 12 home games in April. The team has scheduled 14 games on 13 dates in May with a doubleheader against the Ottawa Lynx on Sunday, May 7.

The Herd will also play nearly half of their home schedule on weekend days, including 11 fridaynightbash! dates and 11 Saturday dates. The Bisons will host 12 Family Fun Day events on Sundays during the season. The Herd will play the fewest games at home on Wednesdays in 2006 (only six games).

Happy Anniversary Opener
The Bisons will open the home portion of their 2006 schedule against the Columbus Clippers on Friday, April 14. Along with a classic fridaynightbash!® with post game fireworks, the game will also be the 18th anniversary of the first game played at Dunn Tire Park. On April 14, 1988, the Bisons defeated the Denver Zephyrs, 1-0, on a Tom Prince home run in the first game at the then-Pilot Field. Since then, almost 16 million fans have watched the Bisons win 800 games, hit over 1,100 home runs and capture the 2004 International League Governors’ Cup Championship.

2006 Schedule Highlights
Highlights from the 2006 schedule include a four-game series against the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, the Columbus Clippers, from Friday, April 14 – Monday, April 17. The Herd will host the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons for the first four-games of an unique seven-game home-and-home series, Monday, August 21 – Thursday, August 24. The Buffalo Bisons will begin their home portion of the 2006 Thruway Series when the Syracuse SkyChiefs come to Dunn Tire Park on April 27. In its ninth year, the Thruway Series features the three Triple-A teams located in New York State. The team with the best winning percentage in head-to-head competition wins the Thruway Cup.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will return to perform their 11th annual Independence Eve Concert and Fireworks extravaganza on Monday, July 3rd for the Bisons-Rochester Red Wings game.

Schedule Format
The International League format is unchanged from last season. Each team is scheduled to play 144 games (72 at home). The Bisons will play North Division opponents 16 times each (eight at home) and the Herd will face teams from the South and West Division 8 times each (four at home).
