Yesterday, Senator "Foghorn Leghorn" Specter wa raging against the Iggles and NFL for their despicable treatment of T. O. He was threatening to take the matter to the U. S. Senate Anti-Trust committee (which he Chairs) for investigation. Now he says he's talked to the "Justice Departent" and it should be up to them, cause his precious committee is too busy with more important stuff. Can any of you explain to me WhoTF he thinks he is? What a hole. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2240403

As you know I'm usually pretty sedate. I don't want to get political, but I really dislike Specter and I guess I'm overboard and unclassy in part because of that. Sorry.

That aside, there are absolutely NO legal issue involved for anyone to look at. Both parties, the union and the league have voluntarily agreed to submit all disputes to binding arbitration. They have both surrendered their right to take the matter to court in exchange for the mutual benefits achieved by having quick and decisive resolutions to their disputes. All courts at very level and in virtually every jurisdiction have upheld the rights of private partiees to enter into such agreements, and having done that, won't go near them. No court would touch this with a ten foot pole. Congress as well, has no right involving itself in a valid private contract.

Specter knows this. He knows he has no business in this. He is grandstanding. He is, as they say, trying to insinuate himself into the most notorious news story available since that will yield him the maximum personal exposure. At least that's MHO.

Cheers, BT

republicans in PA are on the way out. specter is kissing union ass. this sentence, though - Congress as well, has no right involving itself in a valid private contract... that's just plain wrong.

i don't see what the big whoop is, though. why should he not get involved?

Its good to know that the senate has nothing bigger to worry about then trying to find a way to get the NFL's biggest Jackass back in the game
