The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL announced on Wednesday Director of Communications and play-by-play broadcaster David J. Miller will be working as the Public Address Announcer at this Friday’s National Hockey League game featuring the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York.

“This business is all about opportunity”, said Miller. “I’m very happy to be on the Sabres employment short list after all these years.” Miller served as the Executive Producer and Radio Host for the Buffalo Sabres from 1995-1997. He also worked as a Sports Talk Show Host on WNSA-FM in Buffalo from 2000-2002.

Good. The kid we have now is horrendous. Better than Swanson for Sabres games though.

I'd rather have Swanson than the joke they currently have.

But here's one thing I think we can agree on... The Why Guy needs to go.

As a side note, the crazy dancing guy needs the Mike Hurlbut jersey back.

I don't mind O'Neill. If they got rid of him, I'd hope they'd get someone to do the same kind of thing.

And yes, I want the Hurlbut jersey back if he's gonna stick around. If anyone should go, it should be that freak. If he would only show up once or twice a game, it wouldn't be so bad, but it's too much.

And one more thing, why did they have to steal the "LET'S PLAY HOCKEY!" thing from the Wild? It's retarded.

I'd rather the Sabres copy what some Amerks fans have done(and may still do;haven't seen a game in years)....have fans chant "HOCKEY...HOCKEY...HOCKEY" before the start of the game and each period.

Personally, I hate the cutdown opening video. The long version was much, much better. And they start the short version too soon. There's about :20 seconds between the end of it and when the players actually come out.

While I'm at it, do something during the intermissions. This high school shootout thing is alright but stop saying they're at "select" games since they've been there every game (at least since they started it). Why'd they waste money on the projector when they only use it for the opening. They don't even use it for the Anthems anymore.

Is this the same Dave Miller that hosted the pre and post game shows on WGR when Pete Webber and Danny Gare did the radio calls?

No one will ever be better than Milt Ellis. (or Joe Byron and Norm Wullen.)

Milt Ellis,if you're wondering,is still with us. Not so Byron and,I think,Wullen.

I agree about the intermissions. Even if it was corny/fake, bring back the goalie races. They did do some type of sumo wrestling during one intermission this year. But otherwise than that, nothing except for the high school shootouts. And yes, its not "select" if they do it at every home game! (I do like them showing the TV segments on the jumbotron but turn up the sound!)

They still use the projector for the national anthems-showing the United States/Canada flags flapping on the ice. (I know they did it for the Devils/Caps games last week-not sure about the Rangers game.) So they still use it for the opening? I must miss it - too busy watching the jumbotron. Otherwise than that and for the highlight of whatever Sabre is #1 star, its not used. (I know the Sabres wanted to use it to show the highlight of the goal they just scored - but the NHL nixed that idea for some reason.)

I agree 100% on the cutdown video. The long version is pretty cool, and the short just sucks.

The high school shootout is so short I have only seen one all year and that is because an exgirlfriends brother was the goalie for West Seneca West. If you go to the bathroom you are going to miss it, even with no lines.

I wish Swanson was back for the PA announcer. This guy and his stupid "Lets play hockey" is really annoying.

Time to get rid of the dancing idiot and bring back the Sabre Girls (AKA, Bandettes). If I have to watch someone dance, I would rather see a hot chick in a short skirt rather then a fat guy who is sweating like he just ran ten miles.

Agreed. Besides, nothing says "Let's gear up for a game" much like playing the theme music for CSI:NY(the Who's Baba O'Reilly). Actually, not really. How about something else, like Megadeth's "Crush 'Em" or GnR's "Welcome to the Jungle",or something that'll get the crowd pumped up?

BTW, what is this new goal song? I can't tell because it's so damn load, what with the horn and the cheering and all.

There is no set song. Sometimes it's Blur's "song 2" sometimes it's something else. It's different everytime.

Why do they play U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name" for the intro in the 2nd period. I mean I really like that song, but it's not an intro.

Similarly with the period intros. It's different (although more different songs) for the intro.

While we're mentioning music, we need to stop replaying the same songs over and over each game. It's starting to get as bad as Bisons game. Okay, Pilot's "Magic" isn't nearly as bad as Hanson's "Mmm Bop", but you get the gist. At least we didn't play Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" on Tuesday when the Rangers were here.

Hey, they busted out that "good old hockey game" song. Then again, that drove me up a wall because of the group of drunk Montreal fans that tried to sing along with it. Not only were they way off key, they couldn't even get the words right despite the fact that they were flashed across the jumbotron.

Okay dude, that one hurts. "Sweet Caroline" should be played every Sabres game, like it is every Bisons game. It is the one song that whole crowd sings, even the Habs fans and Leafs fans. Heck the Bills should play it too, and the Bandits. Maybe it is just because I heard it so much at the Bisons games, and I was dating a girl that hated the song so me and her brothers would sing it all day long, but I really miss it when the Sabres don't play it.

I thought Miller did a great job with the PA. I like him better than the other guy.

I did email the Sabres to complain about the presentation earlier this week. I got a reply, saying they'd "look into" the changes.

I didn't expect to hear any impact on the game last night, but one thing was absent... the "LET'S PLAY HOCKEY!" before the game. I'm satisfied already.

Okay, didn't know that. But it is still a good song.
