Looks like Atlanta is ready to make a deal for a goalie. Will the Sabres finally be making a deal with one of our goalies? If Regier doesen't make a deal I really don't know what to think, this is our chance to get some defensive help.

doubt it, on spectors a couple days ago they said regier is not looking to trade a goalie right now.

If he waits till the last day to make a move I dont care how good it is I will be pissed. To wait till the end of trading dead line is idiotic.

I know there's been a lot of talk about a deal with Phoenix. However, after watching their last two games I don't see anyone on their roster that would make a difference for us. They're not going to deal Comrie, Doan, Ricci or Nedved and there is nothing after that unless you want a 4th liner like Nash.

The Thrashers seem like a better trade fit as they have more depth than Phoenix. Sending down their back-up goalie may be a sign that something is coming..... but then again they might just want him to get some work in with a 4 day hiatus.

Nope, it looks like the thrashers will bring in our good ol' friend Steve Shields to fill in for a while...

Speaking of doubts, I doubt that Regier is going to be truthful with any media source regarding a deal.

Maybe they will get Keith Ballard back.

The window of opportunity has passed. I'm afraid that we're going to have to be patient once again.

Regier should realize that being overly patient is a weakness. His weakness screwed us by not dealing Barnaby when he backstabbed the team. His weakness screwed us last season by not dealing when we were destroyed by injuries. Deal Biron, and that gives us about $2.5M in terms of salary we can add throughout the year to upgrade ourselves.

His weakness this season (and weakness in seasons past) has screwed us into a 4-2 record with the best young goalie in the NHL and one of the most exciting teams to watch in the NHL.

Do you ignore obvious improvements just because things are good?

We missed the playoffs due to Regier's slowness in reacting last season.

Unless we win the Cup, everything that Regier has done wrong deserves criticism. Our 2nd highest paid player has not played one damn minute. Do you think that's a rational way to allocate salary by Regier? I'll take Luongo as the best young goalie in the NHL, too.

We missed the playoffs due to Biron's slow start. How could Regier have fixed that?

"Unless we win the Cup..." So you want 29 NHL GMs to be fired every year? That seems to be the standard you have set.

Sorry, second best young goalie in the NHL. Of course, using your logic everyone but the absolute best is worthless.

I would like that very much! Ballard is going to be a good one.As much as i like Drury I did't like give'n up Ballard to get him but you do have to give something up to get something.Biron for Ballard heads up:yepper:

Regier could have fixed bad goaltending by.....trading for a goaltender?

We had a terrible defense due to injuries. Did you forget that Delmore, Campbell and Janik were all starting defensemen at one point last year?

Did I say Regier should be fired? No. Why then does that seem to be the standard I have set? Is it because it is easier to argue against that strawman, as opposed to what I actually think? His being overly patient should be criticized. And yes, 29 GMs deserve criticism because they did not accomplish what they set out to do.

Second best young goalie in the NHL? Well, I've already shown you to be wrong about him being the best, so maybe you should also consider the other young goalies that have accomplished more like DiPietro. And then perhaps consider opening up the contest to goaltenders that are older and better, like Nabokov or Turco. Miller may be better (in fact, I'd bet on it), but he isn't yet.

And if Miller is the best young goalie in the league, why is Regier hanging on to Biron? Why do we need the insurance policy that Biron represents?
