I realize that some of you Canadians, and I LOVE Canada BTW, truly like the Bills! However, I was just at a site where one poster made a post and stated that "he realized he was one of the few 'non-Canadian' Charger fans..."
I got a kick out of that and I've noticed a HUGE contingent of Canadian "football fans" on the Charger sites this year. Since we can pretty much assume that they haven't been Charger fans for more than a few months for a variety of reasons, it then stands to reason that they only are b/c of Doug. Aside from the glaring loyalty by Canadians towards Doug, since he's very unlikely to be the starter next year in S.D., if even on the team, and since he doesn't appear to be a QB who'll settle for being a stated backup, and since few if any other teams will be interested in him for next season as anything other than a backup, that means that those Canadians in all liklihood won't be "S.D. Charger fans" anymore.
SO! What are they going to do? Go back to watching the CFL predominantly? I'm curious and don't have an opinion, just wondering if anyone else had some insight. I'd say they'd come back to Buffalo, but having said that, I don't think it can be more obvious that the reason for the groundswell in Bills support over the last few years did have some roots in those Canadian "Flutie first" fans. So it doesn't stand to reason that their loyalties are to Buffalo anyway and therefore they wouldn't be Bills fans for any particular reason anyway.
I mean was this foray into the NFL by Canadian fans a "last ditch hope" to somehow bolster the CFL into the same status and category as the NFL w/ the hopes of that going down the drain w/ the predictable demise of Flutie this year?
