Who would you rather have? Let's look at the positives and negatives....

When Regier traded for Brown, he gave us instant toughness on the blue line. He seemed to pull McKee out of the funk he's been in since Warrener left, which is a huge deal because we need McKee to play like he used to for us to be competitive.

Now Tallinder on the other hand can't seem to make the starting roster every night. He got into a lot of trouble in Europe during the lockout. I'm not passing any judgment on him for that, but it has to come into play when you look at the characture of your team. He's failed to impress and come into his own. He's compaired to Smehlik which doesn't impress me the least bit. He's got as much offensive skill as Brad Brown (slim to none), but I feel Brad Brown is a better defensive defenseman.

Brad Brown plays with heart and hard work. Tallinder doesn't come across as a player like that.

I'm not sure why Regier let him walk and kept Tallinder. Probably because Regier drafted Tallinder. Brown brings much more to the team.

I agree, I really liked Brad Brown, in a way he was like a Rhett and those are the kinds of guys you need on Defense, not another Shmelik who won't touch a guy n omatter wat. Brown was a physical force on the ice an dit just makes us tht much more vulnerable in front of the net w/out him.

Hmmmm... One plays stay at home D, fights for his teammates, and works hard. The other goes to Europe and participates in an alleged gang rape. I'll take Brown.

I think Brown's done, but he sure as hell has more character than Tallinder.

Brown was a fringe NHLer prior to the lockout. If the last work stoppage is any indication, about 1/3 of NHLers in 2003-4 will not play in 2005-6.
