WGR is a horrible, horrible radio station. I still listen to it b/c it's better than most other stations, but I find them very annoying! :)

The other day I was stuck in my car for multiple hours and they went on and on and on and on about whether or not poker is a sport. I really question how many people CARE about that AT ALL. But the most annoying this is that when someone, amazingly, actually calls in to discuss that topic, they give em 10 seconds and then hang up and go back to their meaningless bickering

But the NHL chat of the last few days takes the cake. All this THE DRAFT IS GONNA BE RIGGED crap is ridiculous. It's NOT going to be rigged. Every lottery is done behind closed doors. No one wants to here who gets the first pick FIRST. It's done in reverse order for entertainment reasons. And there are going to be accountants in there. And why would all the other owners agree to let NY or Toronto get Crosby? They wouldn't.

Unless someone's got some documented evidence AFTER NY or Toronto wins the lottery, I don't wanna hear it. It's dumb.

I'd rather they go back to their poker discussion.

Matt, the lotto will be televised. They could still rig it but atleast a little transparancy is reassuring. Watch tomorrow via TSN, on TSN.ca, NHL.com and probably an ESPN network covering part of it. I still say if Toronto or NY wins there will be howls of a fix but not as much as if this was done behind closed doors.

Personally I hope the kid goes to a small market and gets a chance to flourish, Buffalo would be nice, but as long as we get a top 10 pick I will be ok with it. He ends up in NY he will get eaten alive by the media.

The actual lottery won't be televisied last I heard, just the revealing of the results. Unless you have a link to show me otherwise.

Personally, I don't wanna see the first ping pong ball chosen. That's so anti-climatic!

During or Just After the Press Conference tomorrow the lottery will be conducted. When the next hour starts, the results will be revealed to the public.

What have I been saying, it's already rigged. Hmm, let's set rules that could take a maximum of 5 balls away. Okay, how many balls will each team start with? The answer is obviously... 3?!?! Oh, and every team has to have at least 1...

:rolleyes2  :rolleyes2

Even if you go the 5 ball route the statistical advantage is still not that significant.

Create it and tell me that the advantage Most I could manage is a 7.5% chance to win... the team that had it... The Rangers.

I guess I'm one of the few small market fans that sees this system as quite fair. There was no season. Everyone should have an almost equal shot. The recently successful teams should not be penalized, especially since they are the one's hit hardest by the new CBA.

Futher details according to TSN:

- Bill Daly, 30 team reps and accountants to be present during drawing.
- Everyone present during drawing will then be sequestered.
- Gary Bettman will reveal the draft order in reverse order without having any prior knowledge of who won the lottery.

I think the rigged talk comes from the fact that the last time the nhl had a draft lottery it was rigged... or so I heard.

Something about a frozen evelope that was colder than all the rest so the person knew what to take.

That was the NBA lottery that gave Ewing to the Knicks. Good reason for them to think that, since, as Buccigross notes, the Knick envelope was visually different as well.

They didn't win jack, as Ewing can't hit a lay up.
