So Eklund's randomly picked draft order puts us at #18, big deal... His comments were interesting though:

The Sabres find themselves as a one of the best positioned teams right now. Drury, McKee, and Kalinin are all inked...Satan and Briere will likely be no problem...I could also see Zhitnik returning despite being unrestricted...Gonchar is another name that I have heard around Buffalo, and also don't be surprised if they jump into the goalie sweepstakes. Dumont is a key as well...

"Jump into the goalie sweepstakes"? I'm thinking he doesn't know the team very well, or we'll be in for a shock or two.

I don't think he knows anything well.

Wait 'til he figures out we have 3 NHL capable goalies, then there will be no evidence on his site he said anything like you just posted.

Unless he is figuring the acquisition of Martin Biron is a part of the goalie sweepstakes.

What about a goalie like Khabibulin? He'd instantly make the Sabres a playoff team.

The Sabres need to spend their money on D and maybe a top 6 forward

Luongo is a RFA. We should deal for him.

My brother had a shocking bit of insight last night: By "goalie sweepstakes" maybe he means we'll be on the selling end.

I told him we should trade Biron and Mika, and bring back the Puppa Scoopa!

This is the same D-bag that guaranteed the lockout was going to end the day before the dealine. His "inside" friend told him the deal was all but done. After something like that i'm surprised he hasn't been embarrassed into retirement.

If that was the case, Al Strachan would be retired.

And the Hockey News would have closed its doors. Nice call in February about the imminent news of a new CBA. What idiots!
