How about dem nationals. Who'd a thought they would do this good. Any one see them holding off the braves and win the division.

That's what I've been hoping for. Their bullpen is starting to unravel though. We picked up Mike Stanton from the Yanks to try and hold it together. Plus an anemic offense. I love watching the Nats and they are really getting a lot of good press in the DC area!

When I was going regularly to DC Stadium, and then RFK, to watch the Senators, I never ever thought there was a real shot of the World Series returning to Washington (this year would be the first since 1933).

Neither do I, Bandits, but you never know -- this could be the magic season for the Senators, err, Nationals.

I'm hoping the Marlins can pull back into the race... but I think the Nationals are fake and the Braves will reclaim the division until further notice.

I think them making a strong push for the playoffs but I dont think they will make a serious run at the World Series
I do like the move of them aquiring Preston Wilson though. You can never have enough bats in the National League

Here is the problem with the Nationals....
Offense!!!!
They have some decent bats:
Jose Guillen
Preston Wilson (now)
Nick Johnson
but they also have some guys that are doing really bad:
Cristian Guzman (sucks big time .199 avg)
Vinny Castilla (Led NL in RBI's? at one time?)
Marlon Byrd (substituted while Church was injured).
Their bad hitters ground into double plays and leave a lot of guys on base. They need to come through.
Their pitching is showing tremendous signs of wear and tear as evidenced by their last several games when they've blown leads late in the game. If the Nats do make it in they will have to play really well. Their schedule is pretty tough the second half of the season.
