View Full Version : Who's sick and tired of the Doug Flutie bashing?

December 12th, 2001, 11:39:43 AM
On the flip side, we got all this Flutie bashing and everyone bringing up Doug Flutie. I say to Wys and jeff....if you want us to quit bashing RJ, then leave Flutie alone! Don't bash Flutie or even bring him up anymore. I'm getting really sick of it!

December 12th, 2001, 11:45:58 AM
Why should the Flutie bashing stop? HE'S NOT A BUFFALO BILL! BASH AWAY!

All I got to say is who brings up Flutie? Enough said.

And whocares about Fluite?

December 12th, 2001, 11:49:46 AM
I am. He is not on the team anymore. Maybe if he went to the fins or jets.

What I don't get is the extra special attention to every itty bitty detail of each of his games. Why not give that attention to OUR team. We won last week, but most of the attention was given to DF's loss.

Give it up fellas!

i believe the word is obsession. I could see following and supporting a guy you like, but one you hate what's the point.

December 12th, 2001, 11:58:04 AM
i used to follow dan marino and hope he would have a terrible game every time out! was i obsessed? maybe. but why does it bother everyone so much..that's the part i don't get.

I don't bring up Flutie all the time, but i can't understand why some of you get all upset when he gets bashed here since he's not a Bill. :D

Player6600
December 12th, 2001, 12:04:08 PM
there's a difference between not routing a player and complete hate. I always route against Marino but I don't come on a Bills board and start a thread saying did you see his pass in the third quarter his spiral looked weak, and then start 10 more threads saying absurd things. A thread here or there all in fun is fine but to have 10 threads in a span of 2 weeks is ridiculous.

Boo Hoo Poor Dougie! Don't fret Billsfans. After this year there will be no more "pixie dust" being spread in the NFL.. What a shame.

stop bashing the midget because you're sick of it? Bash RJ all you want. Doesn't bother me anymore. You can say all you want. I have my opinion, you have yours. They're completely different. Why does our bashing DF bother you so much. THere was a 3 year obsession with the guy and for no reason. Those reasons are COMPLETYL clear now, and it's fun watching everyone realize it after talking to brick walls about the subject for 3 years.

naeliac
December 12th, 2001, 1:37:32 PM
I agree that there is perhaps a bit of an obsession, but it ain't just the people you mention. It is all over WNY and Toronto, we are all constantly reminded of Flutie and Flutie vs. RJ. It is part of being a Bills fan. The biggest problem that the Flutie bashers have is that we feel that there is a misconception about how good (bad) Flutie really was for this team. We feel that he was crappy and the rest of the team did not get the credit.

December 12th, 2001, 1:51:32 PM
Dost thou not possess alternative commitments with which to concern thyself than casting denigrations upon the identity of Doug Flutie? To this I say "betroth thine self of Rob Johnson! He is your demigod interminable!"

jeffblue,

"The midget" comment can and should be interpreted as a personal attack. See the "Who's sick and tired of the Rob Johnson bashing?" thread and you will see an absence of this nonsense.

You brought yourself lower than the flakes. :(

I haven't even read this thread! BUT you forgot a response:

I DON'T CARE either way!

That's me!

WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY are you all upset about anyone bashing Flutie!!!

WHY, WHY, WHY did you even start this thread...

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Midget midget midget. Flake Flake Flake. Mullet Mullet Mullet. Twerp, Joke, whatever you wanna call him. I can say what i want. The TOS have nothing to do with personal attacks on players on other teams. As far as i know, they are only concerned with personal attacks on posters. GIve me a break. Does it hurt your feelings that much to hear someone mention him in a bad way?? I'm so sorry. It's SO funny how much it bothers you and others. I'm really sure it's all just in general right? It's not about DF at all probably, huh? People say stupid crap about Rob Johnson all the time, half the time talking about his surfer boy image, his broken collarbone, his bandanas and nothing to do with is poor play or lack of wins. At least DF bashing has to do with his lack of talent, lack of production, and lack of wins. RJ bashing sounds like, "he wasn't even on the sideline" or "i'll have a broken collarbone in 6 places for $5 million."

IT DOESN"T BOTHER ME A BIT.

I'm not talking about the TOS. Lets say Player6600 used these to describe RJ. You would be all over him like flies on poop. Wuss, weak, crapy QB, loser, homosexual, etc.

But he didn't! That makes him look better than you.

Use whatever nicknames you want. I have no problem with you bashing him if its warranted. Sure, talk about how many losses in a row he has or find his bad stats and parade them on the thread. Do whatever you want to make him look bad. It just doesn't matter. I couldn't care less. You're getting all made because i said "midget" before i said, "weak arm (true, not name calling), bad losing streak, playing horribly, predictable, etc."

No one on this post will ever look as bad as Player66, so keep dreaming on that one. he is and will probably always be the only one that i will ever put on my IGNORE list, and for obvious reasons.

The fact that Johnson has a hot tub (so what, so does my cousin), and is from California and wears a bandana and takes a beating and gets injured...mention that all you want. It's weak. Now, if you want to degrade the guy because his win/loss record is horrible or because he's been injured so many times or things like that, then it's warranted. I could care less if you throw in "surferboy" while you're saying it. Who gives a crap.

jeffblue19
December 12th, 2001, 2:24:18 PM
Player, i'm pretty sure by now that you've realized you're on my IGNORE, so i really hope that everytime one of your posts ends up right before or after one of mine that you're not talking to me. I am being honest when i say that i don't read them, so it really is a waste of time for you to write to me. But i think you're at least smart enough to realize that, so i'm sure you don't post "at me" anymore.

Good one Doug.

I couldn't care less about the name calling, on both sides. It's more of an embarrassment about how we are viewed by other NFL fans.

An average NFL fan would laugh if they thought, or knew in fact, that Bills fans were bashing DF. Especially given our record.

You are making us all look bad. The RJ bashers too. Though they have quited down more than the Flutie haters.

Talk about Travis Henry for a change. How about Peerless Price? Moulds? Are they playing well?

Bogus, are you still on that crusade to get me banned? LOL! Go find a post, other than the sarcastic post above, in which i used stupid comments to bash DF. I use his poor play, his lack of production, etc. I call him the "midget" because that's one of his nicknames. I can't even keep track of all the nicknames people use for RJ on these boards. So what? The point is, when i comment on how bad he is, i call him the midget, but that's not my argument. You can't see difference between trying to make an argument out of "he lives in California" and calling someone a surferboy in a passing conversation. One is stupid and the other doesn't really matter. If i were to sit here and say, DF sucks because he used to live in Canada, then i'd have no reason to NOT be attacked. But, calling him a midget in the middle of a conversation about why he's playing so badly and how weak his arm has gotten etc...i'm not even going to argue this anymore. It's pointless. You have become the most pointless person to argue with on here. I have to say the same stuff over and over, without sarcasm (because you just take it at face value and try to twist it around against me) and then you argue the sames points. It's ridiculous.

I haven't said anything negative or positive about DF in months. I intend to follow the same policy about RJ. If others want to it doesn't really bother me. Our starting QB at the moment is Alex van Pelt. What concerns me is whether or not he can cut it and who will make up our contingent of 3 QBs come September.

March 9th, 2002, 9:39:56 PM
If ever there was a good year to "try out" QBs, it's THIS year! Let's see what Brown can do. Start Alex. If he doesn't answer the mail, then put Brown in and see what he can do! We'll need a third from somewhere. Blake ain't the answer no matter whether you like him or not and has limited upside. So why not try Quinn or another unknown too.

Next year we will seriously be in the hunt and it won't be the time to start fiddling w/ QBs. We should know by then what we have in our stable! If we're not satisfied after this season AFTER trying several out, then we can draft one of the many prospects next year or go for a QB in FAcy!

But if we start Alex and ONLY Alex, or Blake all year, not that he would last that long w/o getting hurt, then we will not be in a spot to accurately assess our QB situation going forward w/o hindering the team and it's possibly progress towards a Division Title and a P.O. appearance, and hopefully a Conference Championship and a SB appearance.

Even if Blake were to come here and perform way above what he's done, which is a BIG IF, he would in all liklihood only be good for a few years anyway. More than likely he wouldn't be around for long anyway. We already know Alex and his capabilities for the most part. Another half a season would be good. Then Brown should play a handful of whole games too. Maybe he'll be a pleasant surprise! If not, then we can think about cutting him to clear room next year. If we have no idea what he can do, then he simply occupies a valuable roster spot quite possibly for no reason.

So NOW, THIS year is the time to figure all that out. NOT next.

While I don't like to bring all that stuff up, it's funny when a negative article comes out abnout him and we get all these "They're jealous" comments and stuff like that. He's no longer a Buffalo Bill and has no business being brought up in a Bills message board or forum. Heck, the next thing that should be brought up is how fans won't make a big deal about him when he's standing on the sidelines while Drew Brees is directing the Chargers offense unsuccessfully against the Bills.
