View Full Version : Who's sick and tired of the Rob Johnson bashing?

December 12th, 2001, 11:04:26 AM
Can we just leave the QB decisions to the front office and quit ALL the RJ bashing! We know exactly how you feel all you RJ-haters!

We ALL know that Rob has issues and that he may never be the same after this injury, but can we please drive on and not vent your personal dislikes for the man who MAY be our QB again next year!

I'm willing to put it to a poll to decide! If everyone wants to keep listening to how worthless Rob is, then fine! I just think it gets old however since the logic of it is only so deep and there are just a few arguments that we've heard hundreds of times w/ NOTHING NEW to add to it, ESPECIALLY since he's not even playing anymore this year!

Anyone else?

December 12th, 2001, 11:07:34 AM
i still think we should get rid of him, that's not considered a personal attack is it? i dont' bash him, i just criticize his play. bye Rob time to go home.:(

Let's keep bashing him. Because he's immune from criticism, of course.

billsfanone
December 12th, 2001, 11:20:37 AM
I don't like the personal attacks against him. Or, the cheering by some when he was injured. So, I would like to see the bashing stop.

But, I would rather they bring in someone else next year. I'm sure they won't.

If he returns, I'll root for him. Because he will be a Bill.

I'm sick of the RJ Bashing, Flutie Bashing, AVP Basing, Peerless Bashing, Molds Bashing, GW Bashing, etc, but it does'nt bother me at all for anyone to Bash that Barney Rubble looking Idiot Wade Phillips.

I'll stop bashing RJ when WYS stops bringing and bashing DF all the time.

TacklingDummyRJ
December 12th, 2001, 11:33:34 AM
1) RJ is a Buffalo Bill 2) Its not bashing, its criticism, 3) only people who can stop the criticism of RJ is RJ himself or TD by cutting him.

December 12th, 2001, 11:42:14 AM
Player 66: "I'll stop bashing RJ when WYS stops bringing and bashing DF all the time."

Why should the bashing stop of a player who is not a Bill?? SIMPLE QUESTION! I've seen some of you that love DF bash other players throughout the league.

EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE! DF IS THE ENEMY NOW! BASH AWAY!

Player6600
December 12th, 2001, 11:53:48 AM
You can bash a player, but it's become obsessive.

In a recent poll there was a question of who are the Bills biggest nemesis, the fish won hands down. I do not see people bashing Fiedler and the fins, but incessantly bash Flutie with absurd arguments. When defended you are labelled a Flutie Flake. IT's ridiculous now.

have you seen some of the posts the biggest Flutie basher has raised. Look at WYS's threads in the last 2 WEEKS.

WYS-You are obsessed with flutie lets look at the posts that you yourself raised :

The Results are in... "Flutie's a LOSER!"

Awww, 5-8...ANOTHER loss...6 in a row.

How Good is Flutie?

How many Flutie fans ...

S.D. fans, PSST!! In here...

Who are the Charger board posters?

I have some questions for you Flutie defenders, but...

OH, It's that time again! Time for the Flutie Watch!!!

It's Happening In San Diego!!!

Flutie Flakes! Reduced for quick sale!!!

Does Flutie further embarass himself this Sunday, or play well vs. a horrible AZ D?

Hmmm!!! I wonder what the problem is in S.D.?

This is called obsession and hatred and I agree we are all sick of it.

There is nothing wrong with discussing RJ's play on this board. Isn't this a board for discussing the Buffalo Bills?

TacklingDummyRJ
December 12th, 2001, 11:56:17 AM
He's allowed 1 Flutie thread a week.:D

December 12th, 2001, 11:57:24 AM
I pretty much HAVE stopped saying too much about Flutie. Of course this phony comparison of Rob to him under completely different circumstances and ones which aren't nor have even been anything other than a "cult-like 'his play is the standard' variety" sure makes that difficult!

BTW, criticism is NOT the same as bashing!

Bashing is saying things that simply aren't true, like "he's never had a good game", and I QUOTE, or "most of his games were horrible", things like that or even suggestions that we'd be better off w/ an unproven rookie who's never even looked at an NFL WCO or even played in one!

Criticism is NOT what we're talking about here!

No one bashes Fina or Irvin! They simply state the obvious FACTS which is ENTIRELY different than stating unobvious opinions that CANNOT be substantiated, and when the makers of those comments are challenged to provide proof, simply run back into the hole from whence they came!

HUGE difference! You SEE Fina miss a block entirely! You SEE Irvin looking around for the guy he's supposed to be covering while he's 15 yards away and the guy is making a game breaking catch. You see Irvin holding or interfering flagrantly!

You know, the tipoff to me that you bashers is that I don't even care if Rob is our starter next year, YET, that's what you turn things like this into! ALL I DO care about is having something OTHER than an unproven rookie in there who may not do anything more than leave the NFL after a few seasons and put us into a huge cap hole again.

But YOU guys, you're peaches! I'm convinced! You'd RATHER see the Bills be 5-11 w/ RJ at the helm than 11-5! It's glaringly obvious to anyone who reads your posts.

Some of you are not bashers, just critics, as duff seems to fall into that category as he stated. But others of you, you'd rather, and you KNOW it so why not just admit it, see the TEAM fail at the hands of RJ just so that RJ is proven bad!

The DAY we get a viable option to play QB for us will be the day I agree to let RJ go! I don't love the guy as many of you suggest! I don't know what else I can do to explain that! But to just get rid of him b/c YOU want it that way makes NO sense in the world! NONE! But, hey, as long as your own personal likes/dislikes come above team interest, I guess we'll just all have to live with it, eh!...

December 12th, 2001, 12:43:10 PM
No the RJ bashing shouldn't stop. It's not bashing it's critism and no player shold be immune from that if they don't play well. Flutie is a football player, Rob isn't. Rob has shown little in the NFL and lacks the crucial tools to succeed in the NFL as QB. He's continually shown that and until he does he deserves everything that gets thrown at him.

hey bill, your points are reasonable. but there is no need to bring up flutie, rob is the guy we are criticizing. if we are going to compare him to flutie we might aswell compare him to warner and manning or any other QB

December 12th, 2001, 12:56:37 PM
Ca we compare Rob to Khari Jones or Tracy Hamm or Henry Burris?

bduff54
December 12th, 2001, 12:57:43 PM
whatever happened to tracy ham, i say bring burris in for a tryout.

BogusTrumper
December 12th, 2001, 2:40:28 PM
JeffBlue says it's okay to bash players because the TOS only applies to bashing other posters. Furthermore, he says that it's okay to bash them on a personal level rather than on their play. So to that I say:

Rob Johnson -- too skinny, too skinny, too skinny, flake, flake, flake, bandana, bandana, bandana

LMAO!! Go right ahead Bogus, it doesn't hurt my feelings. LOL! I bash your buddy DF because of his lack of arm strength, lack of ability, losing streak, poor play, etc. I use a nickname "midget" in reference to him, but i don't say...i hate DF because he's a midget. There's a difference. Who cares if someone calls johnson a suferboy and then goes on to say that he only averaged this many points this year and he's lost this many games in a row, etc. Those are facts. Who cares if you called the guy a name in the process. I don't sit here and say, DF's a midget and he has a mullet and he lives in Canada. But there are people that sit there and make fun of Rob because he has a hottub, he surfs, he lives in Canada and his collarbone is broken. LMAO!!!

jeffblue19
December 12th, 2001, 2:47:34 PM
but, i dont' care if you bash just for the sake of bashing. Who cares? I don't do it, but no one should care if YOU do.

December 12th, 2001, 2:52:26 PM
Doug Flutie has a stronger throwing arm than Rob Johnson.

Stand back, everybody. He's gonna go!!

BogusTrumper
December 12th, 2001, 2:53:56 PM
In another thread you said that it bothers you that people bash just for the sake of bashing. You said that it is okay to bash DF personally but not okay to bash RJ personally.

You're fooling yourself about the nature of the names people use in reference to both RJ and DF. People call RJ a "surferboy" because it is derogatory. You call DF a midget (which he is not) and the mullet (which he has not) because it is derogatory. You are not fooling anyone but yourself.

How's the studying going?

jeffblue19
December 12th, 2001, 2:58:18 PM
Studying is fine. I aced my first exam already. Bogus, you're WAY too touchy. I said nicknames are used all the times, for all kinds of players. I used Eric "play when i want to" Moulds at least a few times this season. I said if you want to name call, at least back it up. Don't just say, he's a surferboy so he sucks. That's retarded. In conversation, i don't say anything to people that call him surferboy or whatever, because i call DF "midget" all the time. I don't care Bogus and you do. There's a difference here. It doesn't bother me that people name call Rob Johnson. They don't like him. I don't like DF and i think he sucks. I think he's continuing to show it with his lack of production, his bad play, his weak arm and everything else. This crusade to get me to stop using the term midget is hilarious.

BogusTrumper
December 12th, 2001, 3:00:21 PM
It is just stupid and annoying. And it is meant to be a put-down of DF. You can't deny it.

December 12th, 2001, 3:00:50 PM
Doug Flutie has a stronger throwing arm than Rob Johnson. Even at 39 he's more productive that Rob would be in an intersquad game.

BogusTrumper
December 12th, 2001, 3:03:39 PM
Beside, Jeff, you are the one who said that the problem with people who bash RJ is that they just call him names and attack him personally. Why is it okay to do that to DF?

BogusTrumper
December 12th, 2001, 3:05:13 PM
And back up that statement about Moulds. Don't just say he only plays when he wants to. That's stupid.

Moulds is a god.

jeffblue19
December 12th, 2001, 3:11:50 PM
OK, on Moulds, i go to every game, and earlier int he season, i continually saw him let up on routs, drop easy passes and not make an effort to stretch out his arms or come back for MANY passes.

I am NOT attacking DF personally when i say.."the midget played horribly again today. His 3rd down converstion percentage sucked, his weak arm was really noticable on that INT. It was SO far underthrown and what a DUCK it was too. The guy keeps on losing even when he's called a winner by everyone. He's not producing at all at his position, his red zone sucks. The midget is proving why the Bills didn't keep him."

Oh boy, i used MIDGET twice. BUT, it wasn't my argument. DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE BLIND MAN??? Take off those sunglasses. People will sit and post about how Rob Johnson is horrible because he doesn't have a house in WNY and he surfs and his collarbone is broken and he wears a bandana. SO WHAT? What does that have to do with him as a player.

If someone said, "That surferboy had horrible numbers today. He took way too long to get rid of the ball on that 3rd and long, he should've just thrown it away. He was sacked 6 times today...SIX!!! That's way too many. The guy hasn't won a home game in HOW LONG??" That's fine. Oh god, they called him surferboy, let me wipe my tears. it's a nickname. So what? Those are legitimate arguments that could have been made after a game or something. That's what posting is all about...making legitimate arguments. It's not about being PC when it comes to people's names.

bduff54
December 12th, 2001, 3:15:16 PM

Isn't that what you were complaining about? When was the last time someone came on this board and simply said, "RJ sucks because he surfs?" It is always within a statement of how badly he plays and yet you were complaining about it.

SO now that i've defended myself unnecessarily HOW MANY TIMES Bogus??? I'm going to stop. I've proved my point and if you still don't grasp it, go ask someone else. It's a waste of my time to go back and forth on this topic. See BDUFF's post if you want to see an example of a stupid one. That'd be like me saying..."I wouldn't stare at your ass so much if i wasn't so damn short. If only those cereal boxes were more sturdy, i could stand on one of those. My EGO hurts dad, they're gonna put in that Drew kid instead of me. Why do the taller, stronger guys always get picked first? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?" I mean, it's stupid.

What I do not like, and this is the same whether it is Johnson, AVP, former players (Flutie), or whatever, is the personal attacks which have nothing to do with football. I do not care about Rob Johnson wears on his head, I do not like it when people make fun of Doug Jr, that kind of stuff. I think my post got stuck in the middle of a conversation where it seems out of place! I was talking in general about some of the more inflamitory stuff that was going on (on this board, however, it seems to be a lot less). It just seems that our local print news seems like People Magazine and our Sportscasts seem to be like Entertainment Tonight. All fluff, no good content. Okay, so I'm not nearly as witty as bduff but do you really think I consider "too skinny, too skinny, too skinny, flake, flake, flake, bandana, bandana, bandana" as valid criticism of RJ? Jeffblue,

Just lie to women. It works for me. So, just agree with bogus. And always go against your first instinct.

example:
Does this shirt look nice?

Answer:
If it looks horrible, just say it looks good. Or else you will have to explain, and maybe miss a play or two (if you are watching a game).

If it looks good. Say, yeah I kind of like it. She will know it looks good anyway and not take the advice anyway. If you say, It looks good, she will say something like, will it go better with my blue pants or... (you will probably miss a quarter)

So you are covered either way. That can be applied to any question.

Boy, I'm sorry I mentioned it but it was a good way to change the subject.

Jeff -- I'm not holding anything against you -- ever! ;)

WYS -- Of course, you're right, the only reason I like Flutie is because I'm in love with him. All women are in love with him. That's why you don't like him. :p

billsfanone -- good advice you're giving the young man -- especially that part about women believing everything. He'll get really far with that one.

Bogus, I've never seen anyone as up tight as you. Try to relax. You'll live longer.

shiva,

"This entire thread is filled with bs?
Well, look who started it."

It was a poll. Look who filled it w/ the B.S.! ;)

Bogus,

"WYS -- Of course, you're right, the only reason I like Flutie is because I'm in love with him. All women are in love with him. That's why you don't like him."

Thanks for being gracious and forthright enough to admit that.

Every year at this time I get bitter and angry. I reflect on my life... when my old man was shot in gang crossfire when I was 7 on January 4th, and then the image of my mom going out for milk 9 days before Christmas and never coming back. My grandma raised me, but she died when I was 14 and then I had to spend the rest of my teen years in foster homes with losers until I was 18. Merry ******* Christmas, everybody.

This from a guy who can't stop talking about another quarterback who's not even on the team...... They want to start Johnson again and you don't think it's appropos to talk about the guy....talk about a warped sense of reality.

If I had RJ on my team, I would bash him too. He just sucks. Im starting to think that Jay Fiedler is better, although Fiedler has had 3 good games in a row (0 interceptions!)

The only thing I'm sick and tired of concerning Rob Johnson is how many chances this guy has gotten. We are paying this guy 10 million a year for what?To be injured? To take sacks? From the first snap AVP took this year he has been better, well alot better then Rob Johnson.Yes, if they bring him back I will support him because I want the team to do well, but I really don't think he should be brought back. And I do think AVP should be brought back, as a backup though. We definitly need to draft a QB.If not David Carr, then Joey Harrington or Kittner.
