Predicting a 5 game series win over Dallas. I was thinking of another 4 game sweep but I have to give the Mavs at least one although I don't know why.

It's just so much run watching the Suns outrun the Mavs, and oh yea, that guy Stoudemire is pretty good too:)

The Mavs are starting to self destruct, a lot of infighting happening, cant be good for the Mavs, too bad. lol!

I hope Phoenix annihilates Dallas. I want 20+ point blowouts each game, nothing resembling a close series.

C'mon Suns, do it for all the Rocket fans!

It almost doesn't matter. Neither of these teams is going to beat the Spurs.

The Spurs won't match up to the Suns fast paced game.

Want to bet? Oh wait. The Spurs will play some actual defense unlike these other teams. Suns don't have a chance

The SPurs will need a chiropractor after watching the Suns move up and down the court on them thats IF the Spurs make it that far! Go Seattle!

They play defense?

May 11th, 2005, 4:16:33 PM
my only arguement is, WHO CAN STOP DUNCAN?

Billsman
May 11th, 2005, 4:33:35 PM
Who can stap Amare, S. Marion, The Q and Nash? Not Duncan.

It'll be raining 3 pointers all day the Suns are on the court and the Spurs won't be able to stop it.

Yes, the Spurs play defense. I know watching the Suns play you probably forgot that defense even existed

The Spurs, with the Pistons, are the best teams in transition defense. They position themselves amazingly fast on defense preventing fast break points or fast pace offenses to be effective.
When the Spurs won the NBA title against the Nets, they're were supposed to struggle against them because of their fast pace offense, but that never happened.
If the Spurs face the Suns they will slow them down and obviously the Suns will score points based on that offense but I think it won't be a great factor. The Suns will have to play great defense and be pacient on offense.
It sure will be a great series (if both teams keep winning)

I know watching the Spurts and Dallas that Texas doesnt have any teams that can play offensive ball.

Its like they always say: Defense wins championships

Thats in football. The Suns have plenty of defense, you'll be surprised.

The suns defensive scheme works to their advantage. They pack it in and force teams to shoot jump shots because they know they can outshoot any team. They also try to keep their fouls down because they'd rather have a shot that has a 50% chance of going in rather than a 75-80% chance like free throws have. They do this so they can run more often after a missed shot.

Didn't the Suns give up the most points in the league?

Someone on espn.com did an article on the suns defense and the number he used was defensive FG%. The suns were 13th or so out of all the teams in the NBA which means there defense was no where near as bad as people make it out to be. Of course they are going to give up points, but that's because they run so much, that they have the ball less time on offense. If they wanted to slow the game down, obviously the amount of points they'd give up would be less.

We'll see how good their half court game really is because they aren't going to be able to run as much on the Spurs.

Duncan is gonna have his way all day long.

lavuuk153

I think the Suns will double team Duncan everytime he gets it and force Parker and Ginobli to beat them. Forcing teams into jump shot battles is what they want to do.

And oh yes, the SUNS LOST ONE GAME IN TWO SERIES!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!! THE SKIY IS FALLING!!! lmao!

If it wasn't a loss on their home court, I don't think it would have been a big deal. But now the Mavs have the home court advantage.

Billsman
May 12th, 2005, 4:33:50 PM
Im not worried, the Mavs still can't match up, the SUns came out flat, missed a lot of 3 pointers in the 1st and allowed Finley to shoot at will.

May 12th, 2005, 6:41:49 PM
If Dampier can play like that agains and Johnson remains hurt, the Mavs chances are much better. The Mavs nos Dirk will put up point, they need someone else to do it as well, whether its Stack, Finley, Terry, etc.
Problem now fir the suns is how to replace Johnson with such poor depth

Billsman

Suns 119 Mavs 102
And that's with out JJ playing. Did you see all those Dallas fans running for the doors with 5 minutes left in the game, priceless!

the only team in the nba that even plays a little bit of defense anymore is the Detroit Pistons...The chicago bulls didn't look too bad as a team either as they held opponents fg % to the lowest in the league...

Billsman

Wow, even though the Suns lost to Dallas it was amazing seeing Nash end up with close to 50 points. I have to hand it to Dallas, they came out fresh as the Suns did not.

28 shots?? Sheesh :...:

In his career, the most shots John Stockton ever took in a game was 22, twice. Of course he never won anything either, but seriously in a game when Nash puts it up 28 times while Amare puts it up only 8 the Suns are way off thier game. :...:

lavuuk153

Stockton didn't win anything because he ran into some guy named Jordan. Nash should never be putting up that many shots, but the rest of the team came out flat.

Not a bad way to follow 48 points. I'd say 34 pts, 13 rebounds and 12 dimes is above average.
