This is just incredible, how much acn you obsess over a player who is not even on the team your love. Is it obsession? I don't know.

It's kind of funny isn't it. Even the RJ bashers didn't hold this much of a grudge, especially since he got his way and Flutie was cut.

You enjoyin' yourself in here...

He's just giving as good as he got.
I tell you what - take a look at all the pro-Flutie threads that were on these boards - even AFTER he left and during the month of September and October, and you'll see that Wy's threads are about 1% of the number!
I liked the "Psst" post - thought it was hilarious - still LOL!:)
Here's the quote for next year, folks:
RJ - three TDs in the openoing game at Wilson!
You heard it here first!!

Looking back we can see alot of fairwether Bills fans who know Fu** all about football talking about how they like Flute and he is the bast and all that. Wys is just getting his last laughs, and don't forget "He who laughs last .....

Doug,
In case you hadn't noticed, I'm pretty much lettin' it go! Take a look at who's provoking me into posting about Flutie! It's the same people who accuse me of stringing this thing out.
Also, as I've mentioned to you before privately, this is only a fraction of what we had to put up with earlier this year. So if you think it's bad now, ...:D
As far as duff and McBill on the other thread, we are discussing our options w/ the Bills, and in my discussion of RJ, I find it necessary to relate his play to that of Doug's while he was here, since Rob was NEVER compared to the performance of other QBs in the league, w/ the exception of 'sacks.' Rather, he was compared to Doug, and more specifically, he wasn't personally compared w/ Doug and Doug's passing numbers, he was compared by how the team, the Bills played in a given week, usually against a far tougher opponent that Doug had played, and Rob's SOLE worth was determined, NOT by HIS contribution to the game, but by strictly whether or not the Bills won.
A Bills LOSS to T.B. in Tampa under RJ was compared to a Bills victory vs. Chicago at home w/ fewer points on the board in less time too. That type of stuff. Not to rehash this, but to argue that Rob hasn't really been evaluated fairly, because of the original comparisons that FFs drew up, it now necessitates going back to them.
Anyway, I guess I'm still at a loss as to why you don't like this so much but then continue to enter into these "Flutie" threads?
Many others don't like it and they simply don't come in here.
But I think my bringing up the topic has waned dramatically!!! I only made a post this week b/c someone pissed me off. My deal w/ TDRJ is that I only get to start one thread a week on the topic and that's all I've done!

agreed he does try and talk about doug less, but the fanct remains we are in trouble at the QB position again.
December 11th, 2001, 12:31:55 PM
I also guess that one way too look at your question is to ask yourself,
"how long will Rob be compared to ONE other QB who played in entirely different and more favorable circumstances for the most part, and NOT to OTHER NFL QBs and their performances on a game-to-game basis!"
That's the question that'll probably get your answer!
If you want me to list those circumstances, here they are:
Only Doug got to play w/ the #1 D Bills in '99 representing 10, or almost half of his 21 wins. In spite of having the #1 D that year, he still only went 10-5.
Last year, Doug got to play 5 of the easiest games on our schedule, while Rob had to play 8 of the 9 toughest!
It's just not fair comparing two QBs under those circumstances and making one's worth contingent upon the other. ESPECIALLY when the one QB scores fewer points against a weaker opponent in a win, while the other scores more points vs. a far tougher opponent in a loss! The arguments against that are limited to "It makes no difference who you play!" I think a lot of NFL experts would disagree!
Cordially! :)

WYS-You are obsessed with flutie lets look at the posts that you yourself raised :
The Results are in... "Flutie's a LOSER!"
Awww, 5-8...ANOTHER loss...6 in a row.
How Good is Flutie?
How many Flutie fans ...
S.D. fans, PSST!! In here...
Who are the Charger board posters?
I have some questions for you Flutie defenders, but...
OH, It's that time again! Time for the Flutie Watch!!!
It's Happening In San Diego!!!
Flutie Flakes! Reduced for quick sale!!!
Does Flutie further embarass himself this Sunday, or play well vs. a horrible AZ D?
Hmmm!!! I wonder what the problem is in S.D.?
This has been WYS's posts in the last 2 weeks.

It's not that Wys started the "pssst" thread that is so funny. It is what he got in response. My favorite is the thread he started complaining about the SD message board! :D
RJ is going to be compared to DF for the rest of his life. You all better get used to it.

Fabrico proven wrong once again. I didn't mention bandana boy in this thread. You mentioned him first here by the way.
If you read any of my posts you will see I mention RJ when he is mentioned first.
Nice try though!:D

Hard to discuss the Bills without mentioning their starting QB. Easy to discuss the Bills without mentioning SD's starting QB. Am I missing something? This seems Kindergarten simple to me. :)

Fabrico-You obviously forget to think before you write because you make no sense. I mention Rob only when he is mentioned first or if it is regarding the Buffalo Bills and he is involved.
You on the other hand bring him and Flutie all the time!
I like the effort Fab, but nice try!:D
If you want to try again be my guest, but remember to think before you write again!:D

Fab, it's okay to mention Rob here. It's okay to start a thread on Rob. This is a Buffalo Bills message board. He's the Buffalo Bills starting quarterback. Duh. :p

What team will RJ be playing for against the Bills?
December 13th, 2001, 1:12:03 PM
"Am I missing something? This seems Kindergarten simple to me."
bogus,
There's a lot of things that seem kindergarten simple to me that "some folks" aren't grasping; Eg.: That an OL featuring 4 of the 5 guys who among them have ONLY 16 NFL starts COMBINED can possibly play any worse than a seasoned OL featuring Ostroski, Fina, Brown, Conaty, and an excellent rookie in Jennings who has proven himself. With the former minus 3 or 4 of those!
;)
Also, I think that in part you are correct when you say that Rob will always be compared to Doug. Let's just hope that as long as it's while he's on this team, it'll be vs. Doug THIS year primarily. He's never gotten a fair shake in the celebrity circus environment pitting Doug and his uncanny cult following based largely on charisma against him!
I see Doug as a mere footnote to the NFL following this season however. I highly doubt he'll be too pleased to stick around as a a backup to anyone. He openly applauded Turner this year out in S.D. NOW that things aren't going well, he's pointing the finger at him. It won't be long until, and as I predicted, the division starts out there, especially from members of the defensive squad who have been playing their brains out and losing games b/c the O can't score! So I doubt Flutie will even be a prominent point of conversation next year unless S.D. trades him to some other team in dire need of a QB. But I'm not even sure that any other team will want him after this year. And with his tude starting to act up again, when he alienates half the fans and management for the second time, other GMs and HCs aren't going to cut him the slack of saying it's "everyone else and not him" this time.
He'll either be a b/u in S.D. next year or he'll retire! I just can't fathom the first scenario. Maybe Butler can "work some more of his magic" and unload S.D.'s now cap problem onto someone else in the "interests of getting Doug a starting job elsewhere!"
It's over! Finished! As predicted by me! Man, it sucks being right so many times... :elaugh:
December 13th, 2001, 1:13:34 PM
BTW, this game vs. Oakland on Saturday is Doug's last chance! If he doesn't put up some very good offensive numbers then, he's finished for the year! You should see Brees in the 2nd half. Especially since the Raider D is somewhat banged up!
