this has been brought in the media here alot. does doug flutie belong in the pro football hall of fame, he had tremendous accomplishments in the CFL, which is pro-football. i think he belongs in there, kind of like warren moon who lit up the CFl before going to houston. don't get me wrong i don't think fluties NFl accomplishments or lack thereof are worthy of even a mention, i just think his ten years in the cfl may be worthy.

The HoF is for players who played in the NFL! Not the CFL which is a HUGE step down from the NFL and frankly, more like Australian rules football than American football in a sense.

It also ain't for players in the NFLE, XFL, Arena leagues, Pop Warner, Vince Lombardi, H.S. Football, the NCAA...

It's for players who were great in the NFL. Flutie may have benefitted from being on the Bills, but his performances are quite a bit shy of what normally would qualify a player from entrance into the HoF. They don't just look at Ws while he was the QB and sacks. Otherwise Jim McMahon would have been in the HoF along w/ Mark Rypien and a few others who were lucky to have had jobs on the teams that they played for.

Flutie doesn't even merit consideration. Especially after this year!

Lol, that a joke right? There is no way in hell he even deserves to be mentioned about going to the hall of fame. What has he done? Coming from a Canadian the CFL is garbage, the U of Miamia could beat the best CFL team. Seroiusly who do you think deserves to be momenated for the hall, Jim Kelly or Flutie?

C'MON BDUFF, tell everyone that your joking. the univ. of miami would crush, not beat, any cfl team. by at least 4 tds.

i was just wondering, relax guys. if the pro football hall of fame included other leagues i'm sure he would make it. The Cfl may be garbage but it means alot to canadian people, not necessarily in T.O. but in hamilton and winnipeg and calgary. doug flutie did a lot for the CFL and i think that he deserves some praise for that, he was very vocal for the canadian game and did a lot for the community, it was only a question. too bad it's only for the nfl.

Well if the Baseball HoF allowed all the minors then all kinds of other players would be in there as well!

The HoF is for the BEST! Not the best in a certain league! But the best overall. And the best don't reside and play in inferior leagues only. You can't say that Flutie hasn't gotten a shot since he had plenty early on in his career and was dumped at least twice by NFL teams then.

He still doesn't even approach the best today in the NFL. He approaches the worst!

He's what, the 24th rated QB in the league ahead of only a few other NFL starters!

Let's get real here!

duff,

You say you aren't a Flutie Fanatic, but you sure could fool all of us here. You LOVE the littleman and can't stand RJ! Plus you're from Canada!

What's up w/ all that? Do you really think we are that stupid?

wys, at the start of this year both of us were really high on johnson and the team. since then i have realized that johnson is not the QB for us. i also realize that doug flutie is not the QB for us, i think flutie is a bit past his prime and needs to retire soon. how do you figure that i am an FF. i like him, yes, he played well here in T.O. and was a public figure who everybody respected. Do i think he is better than Johnson, no. Do i think johnson is better than flutie? no. they are entirely different QB's. "i can't stand R.J." no wys i don't even know the guy. you are so madly in love with him that you can't see taht i don't want RJ on this team, thats it. i don't care what else he does. you blindly have faith in a guy that as you have stated over and over again played 5 good games in 4 years. that's the guy you want leading our team? and me being from canada has nothing to do with it, you live in virginia, what d oo you know about canada?

Just checkin' there duff! I mean who else would keep defendin' him the way you're doin' and even suggest that he's a HoF candidate?

I also don't "blindly" follow Johnson. But as you remember I said many, many games ago for the Bills that NO QB would be able to play behind this OL and I was essentially and literally ridiculed for suggesting that. NOW quite a few people are of the same mindset and backing off of RJ a little.

I do not "blindly have faith" in him, as I am QUITE AWARE of the issues. I just think they've been overplayed due to Flutie's presence here. Not only was Flutie put on a pedestal, RJ was unreasonably demeaned in the process, as a result, and as a means of putting Flutie on that pedestal!

I'll take your word for it duff, but I think you've raised more than a few eyebrows and you gotta admit that for someone states that Johnson sucks and that Flutie is not necessarily better than Johnson, you put an awful lot of defense of Flutie in these boards!

You can't blame us for suspecting that, eh!

What do I know about Canada? Quite a bit actually! I've vacationed there quite often actually. Up north of Toronto in Muskoga or something like that. Love Canada Day and went annually until the past year or two, couldn't get rooms last year when the Queen came, and this past summer wife was pregnant. Love Ottawa! Great city and some good biking over in Hull. Toronto's beautiful and I absolutely love the Canadian Rockies as we skiied Whistler. Also been to Quetico Park over Minnesota for a week of portaging and camping. The only people we saw for an entire week were a canoe crossing the lake. Didn't even say hi so as to disturb their peace. I love Canada and it's probably my number one vacation spot of choice!

Isn't there a Canadian football hall of fame somewhere that he could be voted into? I find it hard to believe that he would ever even be considered for Canton...
