Maybe a bit of a taboo topic for a football message board, but it's getting close to that time to start making decisions on what's going in the garden this year. Anybody else garden?

I had somewhat of a "green" thumb in college, but I passed that knowledge on to my protege. :fumer:

Tell you what ...
I have an impossible time with melons and pumpkins. I haven't been able to get anything to grow ever.
I have fantastic tomatoes and cukes and carrots without using chemicals. This year, I'm going to try lettuce. I won't grow stuff I don't eat, like asparagus or broccoli or cauliflower.
On the flower side, I have a real challenge ... this will be my first spring in my new house, which has completely different lighting (the front of the house gets little sun). Gonna have to find a nice flower that requires little to no sun, but still blooms. ... suggestions?

If someone knows where Chauncey went, apparently he's a Gardner...

I used to Garden... I live in an Apartement now so it's impossible to do such a thing. But back in the day I used to like to plant corn and tomatoes.
Tomatoes were my favorite. I'd plant the seeds and then build cages to help them grow up straight. It was always exciting to see a plant grow healthy and bust out some good tomatoes.
Corn was fun too... watering them and watching them grow. Before I knew it my 2inch plants were over 6 feet tall and bustin' out ears of corn.
Nature is an amazing thing. I sure do miss it. :(

I always plant a huge garden every spring. We have corn, tomatoes (2 or three kinds), peppers, cauli, broccoli, radishes, carrots, zucchini, green beans, peas, onions and pumpkins. Once in awhile I'll plant eggplant and okra. :)
Flowers - peonies, sunflowers, marigolds, petunias, whatever kind I can get. Peonies and irises are perinnials, if you want them to come up every year, along with tulips, daffodils and lilies, etc. For shade, fuschia likes the shade and so do impatiens. :)

I used to grow cannabis sativa back in the day when I was about 15. I'd have a garbage bag full and used to make pot covered pizzas and brownies. Not to mention an endless supply of smoke. The trick was using cowcrap as fertilizer and constant pruning to assure the development of good buds. Hang the plants upsidedown in the fall for drying. I'd also pump the soil with a potasium based fertilizer and it would produce an excellent smoke. Never sold even a gram. Just kept a few piles for myself and gave away the rest.
I haven't smoked cheeba in over 20 years.
