Quiz. You have a 5 5 hand at blackjack and the dealer is showing a 5. What do you do?

A. Take another card
B. Stand Put
C. Split
D. Split then immediately double down.
E. Double down

I won $400 in one hand on the answer to this. ( I origninally remembered it was a 4 4 with a 6 but it actually was a 5 5, with a 5 which is an even harder decision. Not reallly, they are both no brainers)

25,000 chips to the person that picks the correct answer and can explain why it is correct

I'll wait for several answers before responding. That way you cannot rule out a response based on someone elses answer. Remember, the answer must be the same as how I would play it. And I am a goddamn master at blackjack. I won $6,300 on my last cruise playing the game. And I am up over $16,000 lifetime playing blackjack.

With a 5 showing there are 20 cards in the deck that give the dealer a 15, or 16, and they have to hit. Splitting and DD puts you in a great position to win a huge take agaisnt a dealer bust, which is a good % w/ the 5 showing.

Jesus That didn't take long. You are ABSOLUTELY correct. Give me 5 minutes to withdraw the chips from the bank and I'll send them your way.

Best hand for the player is for the dealer to have a 5. He must hit on 16 so the bust potential is high. But why not the dealer having a 6? Easy, he/she could pull and ace and that would be a 17, which is bad for you. I'll sit on a 12 if the dealer is showing a 4, 5, or a 6. The toughest hands are when the dealer is showing a 2 or a 3. Then it entirely depends on your hand at large.

Just pull out your glock and hold up the dealer.

Much better odds...

No problem. The pleasure is mine. :) It is nice to see an analytical mind at work here. BTW, I make 75% of my money off of dealer busts.

Rule of Thumb: When the dealer is showing a 4, 5, or 6, get as much money on the table as possible, even if that means splitting 10's. Others at the table will shoo you for it but that is why I win thousands and they don't. The old adage "never split a winning hand" is bull.
