Montreal Canadiens right wing Donald Audette underwent surgery to his left forearm Saturday night after receiving a deep laceration in a 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers.
Audette will be sidelined indefinitely, the team announced Sunday. He will be released from Montreal General Hospital on Monday.
Acquired two weeks ago from Dallas, Audette was bleeding profusely after Rangers winger Radek Dvorak skated over his arm with six minutes to play.
Audette was in so much discomfort that he slammed into a door that leads from the bench to the locker room.
A veteran of 622 NHL games, Audette has a goal and four assists in five games with the Canadiens. In 20 contests with the Stars, the Quebec native had four goals and eight assists.
