No WMD's in Iraq. How is the war still worth the price that over 1,500 soldiers have paid?
The UN was doing nothing to mitigate the risk of Saddam's power in the middle east. I truly believe that left alone (aka left to the devices of the UN) that Saddam would have had nuclear weapons within 10-12 years. At that point he would have been untouchable and a major threat to the entire region.

What would be your ideal time-table for exiting Iraq? Should we maintain bases there, if so how many?
That's a tough question to answer. How do I predict the correct timetable? I would say that the bulk of our forces stay at least until the internal security issue is manageable by the Iraqi army and security forces. However, if the free Iraqi government opts to ask us to leave then we are obligated to comply. We should negotiate to have US bases in the country. Perhaps we could pay fair compensation in leases for this privilege. And I specifically said privilege for a reason. The number of bases is another tough question. There is a balance between front line security in the region and the perception that we are an occupying power.

Osama hasn't been caught. Is Bush still correct in saying we are winning the war on terror? Also, do you think Osama be caught?
Has there been an attack on the US in the past two and a half years? I believe that UBL and his minions are being contained. And to me this is a win. Do I think he will be caught? No. Not until our intelligence agency gets its act together and the Pakistanis get more serious about cornering him on the Afghan/Pakistan border.

The U.N. is in the news a lot as of late. Your thoughts on the United Nation? I saw a commercial saying "Get the U.N. out of the U.S." is that something that you think should be considered?
The UN in my opinion is a heavily bureaucratic and, in this age, a corrupt and ineffective organization. I would suggest that we take the UN with a "grain of salt" but take the approach that we should act within our national interests regardless of what the UN says. We are a sovereign nation, not a subject of the United Nations. Where the UN can be effective we should throw our hat in an contribute. For example, UNICEF is something that we should be involved in. There are other aspects of the UN that are effective, but lets not start 1000 word response here shall we.

Howard Dean is the new Chairperson of the DNC. Does this help or hurt the party? Should republicans fear the "Dean money Machine"?
As DNC chairman, Dean is an excellent grass roots organizer. He will not be in the spotlight with regards to his whacky political philosophy and as a result he will not hurt the Democratic party with his nutty media image. The guy can raise money and if I were the Republican National Chairman I would be very worried.

Abortion and Gay marriage are the two biggest social issues in America today. Should the the federal government have control over these issues. Or should it be the states decision.
No on both accounts. I am on record as being pro-gay rights and pro-choice. But these decisions should be left to the states. Where in the constitution are these issues relevant? I am a federalist at heart and believe that states rights are paramount.

Why did John Kerry lose the election?
Because Americans fundamentally reject liberalism and saw through his facade that he was a moderate. Until the democrats move toward the center they will continually lose elections. Note: Clinton was a master at presenting a "moderate" image (moderate in quotes for a reason). The result? He served 8 years.

Hard Hitters!

Michael Jackson: Guilty or Not?
Guilty. He acts like a girl and talks about sleeping with young boys being normal and healthy? If I had a son that slept with MJ I would kick Michael in the gonads. In other words I'd mash his potatoes.

Barry Bonds: Juiced Up?
With his record? He's juicing that's for sure. BTW, I worked in an ER and saw a lot of roid' junkies. And without sounding gay I can say that this poison does shrink your privates.

Will the Pope Live to see 2006?
Will the pope live to see April? That is the question.

Biggest story of 2005 will be?
Israel and the PLO reach a milestone peace agreement.

Say something about the PRS:
We all need to differentiate between our posts and our feelings toward the poster. Good people can have honest and heartfelt disagreements.

Which poster is the best debater?
Without a doubt Shiva. He has an excellent intellect. Following very closely is admarc.

Which poster do you disagree with the most?
Chauncey or coastal. But I never take it personally.

Which member would you like to hang out with?
Easy. Hurls, gr8slayer, or rob on the job

Which member do you respect the most?
That's a toughie because I can think of four people. TigerJ, mattrose, CoachSalc or admarc.

Thats it. Any final thoughts?
Yeah. Guys I rarely hold a grudge. Really. I know several of us viciously disagree in the PRS, but it is just opinions. You are all Bills fans and as such I would break bread with you any day of the week, even you coastal. LOL. And trust me as a mod. I give my word of honor that I will always strive to be fair and impartial. It's a personal integrity thing and being fair allows me to sleep better at night without a guilty conscience.

I would like to add that Hurls is a beer drinker and that is my kind of buddy to hang with. And he is whitty. The question is, who would finish a case of beer first? 1,000,000 chips says I would tank a case an hour before he would. Nothing personal Hurls but my family has a genetic history of a high tolerance.

Why would you want to pound a case of beer? Seems like either an incredible waste of good beer (say, Murphy's, or anything from Ommegang), or an incredible waste of time drinking ****ty beer (say, Coors Light and their ilk).

Why anyone wastes their time with ****ty American big-brews I'll never understand. Unless you're poor, maybe. And then I'd just drink less.

How about when you are camping in the woods with your buddies and beer thirty is at 9am and the sippin' ends at midnight?

BTW. My favorite beers are Guinness and Bass. Either separate or as a black and tan.

All this beer talk [thanks, Pete!] puts me in my usual dilemma as my town goes nuts on Saturday for the annual St. Pat's celebration.

I usually drink light American beers -- sorry, anEinherjer -- but on the St. Pat's celebration I get tempted by the Guinesses and all the other Irish/English beers that resemble 10W-30 motor oil.

So I drink one in celebration of the day, and I instantly regret it. I just can't get accustomed to the taste.

But if I don't have one of those nasty beers, I feel as though I'm not celebrating properly.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to better adjust to these stout, dark beers?

Try black and tans. It is 1/2 guinness and 1/2 bass. Less bitter.

Hey Rob, if you're stuck on "light American beers" try Blue Moon or some other Belgian white beers. They're light on the stomach and have a non-threatening taste. Or find some brand of India Pale Ale (a misnomer since they're not necessarily pale at all).

As for how to get into a stout, I humbly (well okay, not so humbly) suggest Murphy's, if you can find it. MUCH better than Guinness - all the wonderful stoutness but a much smoother, creamy taste and best of all, no bitter aftertaste. The greatest beer to pass my lips, I'd have to say.

The key to better beer drinking (I say as a skinny expert, haha) is to go to your super market's beer aisle, turn AWAY from the Bud, Miller, and Coors, and just pick something weird that you've never tried before. Turn it into a game, or a hobby - try as many as possible. If nothing else, life's too short to drink nothing but Bud. Labatt Blue is okay though, it's in the "import" aisles down here :D

And if you want something mighty fine, locate a Gouden Carolus and plop down the extra cash. If you want a headache in the morning, find Orkney's finest Skull Splitter. The Viking on the label makes me feel all manly before the beer does exactly what it says......

By the way, thanks Pete for bringing up one of my favorite non-partisan subjects. :)
