season, so IF and this is a BIG IF, the Sabres won a Stanley Cup in a 28 game abbreviated schedule, is that championship tainted to you?

Championship? Give me a break, it's not even a season, and it's been discussed often.

Then put an asterisk on every Cup with under 80 games played then.

Or put an asterisk on sub-.500 teams that have won the Cup. Who cares if you play a full season if 2/3 of the teams get into the playoffs? For example, the 22-25-13 Queefs winning the Cup in 1949.

Under 80? There's a realistic counterpoint. Anything under half IMO is weak.

How about those 48 seasons that only had a 2 round playoff?

I like an asterisk on sub .500 teams. A regular season where sub .500 teams make the playoffs is somewhat of a joke anyway.

Agreed. My reference to the NFL in another thread I got from a talk show. They mentioned if the NFL used their first part, the Giants would've been in. What kind of conditioning do you think the guys who haven't been playing will be in, and do you think the shortened camp will be detrimental to even playing this year?

Or maybe the Bills get in? They went 9-3 in their last 12 right?

LOL, true I suppose if you take the last few. But translated that would mean they played their first games in NFL Europe or CFL. :D

Yeah, I wouldn't care if they played a fifteen minute season, a cup is a cup. They'd still have to make it through four playoff rounds.

A Cup is a Cup? Whoever wins this year gets the * next to their name. Then MLB should go back and award The Yankees and Expos "Co-World Series Champions" for the '94 season. At least they played 90% of the season.

MLB became irrelevant after that.

Listen play street hockey tournament amongst all the teams like the "Gus Macker" and if the Sabres were to come out on top I'd be happy. So if 28,24 or 20 games were played and a full playoff format were played and we survived to win a Cup you bet your butt I would be proud, loud and HAPPY. Now lets get the "Game ON" !!!!

No they should have made the playoff last season they were one of the best winning teams at the end of the season. i would have picked up from that point and play 28 game and go deep in playoffs . but now thats over. i am sick. the high and the low . i have been depressed all season..........
