I'm on the NHL side. I'm not a fan of Bettman, but I think he did the right thing by sticking to his guns about the salary cap level. I think the owners are trying to keep the sport affordable for the average joe to be able to take his family to a game or two each season. The players don't care about the fans and only want the money. They don't give a second thought to where that money comes from, they only want their millions. This in a sport that has no major television revenue coming in. If any sport needs a salary cap, it's hockey.

I'm with Karl and Snarf. Both of them can rot in the nearest circle of hell, for all I care. Neither side impresses me much, and the same can be said for Bettman & Goodenow.
polgard: The owners are TRYING to keep the sport affordable? You're kidding me,right? Ticket prices, among most teams, seem to keep going up and up. When it gets knocked down to a level that a family or a single person doesn't have to get a second job to pay for the ticket(s) and all the bells and whistles, then I might buy into that argument.

All the bells and whistles? Like what? A limo ride to the game?
A family of four can get season tickets to watch the Sabres for $1,600. You don't need a second job for that.
