This whole thing is so rediculous. Waiting until way past the 11th hour and scrambling for a deal, both sides coming off their "etched in stone" positions at the last minute and beyond, for that they deserve this fate. I wouldn't want a thrown together season anyway, the problems with this game go way beyond finance, they are problems of the game itself.
The instigator
Teams in dead cities to hockey
"Clutching and grabbing" issues
The list goes on. If they throw together a 28 game season, give away the cup to a team no one would recognize along with champs from full seasons and don't address the issues that keep the game unpopular on TV and thus not profittable, nothing has really been accomplished.

Sorry guys, it is over. Live on SportsDesk, Stan "The Maven" Fischler said a handful of big name players have gone to Bill Daly. For what reason, I don't know. Maven says it will put pressure on Goodenow.

It's way over.
According to Daren Pang yesterday, many players woke up to both a 24% rollback AND a cap and said they felt like they had been "sold up the river". He heard that exact phrase from more than one player.
A couple of players will not change this either way.
Over. Over. Over.

Something is seriously wrong with the players; they are dillusional and living in a dream world. It seems that they feel they should be compensated like other sports. However, hockey's revenue stream is a pittance compared to the other leagues. All one has to look at is the TV contract. Maybe the players can't read or write and are solely reliant on Goodenow for information.

Its not like I want to hear the players try to rationalize any stance they are taking. Its too hard watching those guys trying to get their points across as the smoke billows out of their ears.
