After this long and emotional frustrating ordeal what should the NHL and the teams do to win back the scorned hockey fans. Here are a few.
#1 Lower ticket prices- After all the crap they put the fans through they should lower ticket prices down at least ten dollars a ticket. That will go a long way to winning back the fans.
#2 Fire Bettman and Goodenow- More personal for me, but I feel we have all had enough with these two a** clowns. Lets get some new players in there that care about the game and it's fans.
#3 Open up the game- Most hockey fans want more fast flowing games. The NHL needs to have goal scores that have 60,70, and 80 goals.
I am sure there are more. What else do they need to do?

We could all use that. However,I think some teams will use this as an excuse to jack up the prices even more.

Can I get an AMEN on that? Any healing that's going to happen won't until these two get run out on a rail and NEVER get any sort of job in hockey again. Not even as a Zamboni driver. And...some :beers: for that idea!

That will go a long way to winning back the fans.Lower concession prices significantly (the lowere they are the more people buy). Stop charging $6 for programs (hell, the Bills give them away for FREE). Lower merchandise prices.
#2 Fire Bettman and Goodenow- More personal for me, but I feel we have all had enough with these two a** clowns. Lets get some new players in there that care about the game and it's fans.As much as I hate Bettman, I wouldn't mind if he stayed. As for Goodenow, I think the only way for this to get solved is with him out of the picture (or behind his back).
#3 Open up the game- Most hockey fans want more fast flowing games. The NHL needs to have goal scores that have 60,70, and 80 goals.
I am sure there are more. What else do they need to do?Devise some sort of "illegal defence" penalty or stoppage/keep two-line pass. Lengthen 4-on-4 overtime to 10:00. Decrease goalie pad size. No curve limit. All clutching and grabbing results in fines. No instigator. Tag-up offsides. Auto-icing.

Another advantage for Buffalo...import that talent from Niagara on the Lake...we're talking dynasty baby!

Dude, the NBA sucks because of illegal defense. It just will add stoppages reducing the flow of the game and encourage the calling of questionable penalties.
Lengthening OT is a NHLPA type issue.
Decreasing goal pads is a good idea. So is no curve limit.
Getting rid of the instigator is the most important and will get rid of clutching and grabbing.
Auto icing is okay, in the AHL games I've seen this year.

God no. Bring back the 1979 rule book, and then make a very few adjustments.

Lower concession prices significantly (the lowere they are the more people buy). Stop charging $6 for programs (hell, the Bills give them away for FREE). Lower merchandise prices. In Minnesota the programs are $2, and they have kids from the youth hockey programs handing them out. The best part is all the money goes directly to the kid's hockey programs.
As much as I hate Bettman, I wouldn't mind if he stayed. As for Goodenow, I think the only way for this to get solved is with him out of the picture (or behind his back).
I still say Bettman needs to go. Most of the players and hockey fans still think of Bettman as a basketball guy. It would make negotiations a lot easier if the players think the Commissioner is a hockey guy.

Let me take each of them:
*OT: Not up on extending it.
*Goal pads and no curve limit...fine by me(Brett Hull made that suggestion some time ago).
*Amen to saying sayonara to the instigator rule.
*Keep the no-touch icing rule. I don't want to see any player's career cut short thanks to chasing for the puck and slamming into the boards hard. Pat Peake(who played briefly for Washington)is one example;he blew out his ankle while chasing for the puck and has so far endured 17 surgeries on the ankle he injured.
Also,I'd add:
*Take out the red line for offside consideration.

*Take out the red line for offside consideration.
Been there, done that.
The red line was ADDED in 1943 to ADD offense. What will happen if the red line is ignored for offsides is that the neutral zone trap will simply move back from the neutral zone to the defender's blue line. That will take away offense.
