No one is surprised, of course. Still, I think that the official end to the Rock's involvement with the WWE isn't a great thing for the company. His name still brought in viewers from time to time.

They wanted him to come in around this time and set up a match with JBL at WM XXI which he would have won for the WWE Title, then kept it until the next PPV where he would have dropped it either back to JBL or over to possibly Cena. The Rock shot the idea down though around the time of the December 04' PPV. After that, I guess Vince pretty much knew that Rock wouldn't be around for WM.

He is a co-star in the new movie "Be Cool" coming out soon. Looks like it might be his 3rd hit movie, after Scorpion King and Rundown.

The Rock may be coming back yet...this week's Pro Wrestling Torch is noting that both sides seem to be fixing the problems both sides had. Rock noted that the conract he had was allowed to lapse, and everyone-including McMahon-had apologized to him. So,if they can fix it,don't be surprised if Rock pops up at WM 21.

They are promoting the hell out of Be Cool, so I would be SHOCKED not to see the Rock and WWE renew. I would be willing to bet that the WWE just overlooked the whole thing, not realizing it was expiring. If that was the case it was a pretty big F up though!

If anybody read the article in the latest Playboy with the rock he says he is contractually done with the WWE. But not dont working with them. He will make PPV and Raw cameo's as needed. He says he loves wrestling, but he is a actor. But he will be back in wrestling for bit's here and there.

Correct: The Rock is contractually done for now with the E. And you can blame someone in the office for not noticing his contract was coming up for renewal.

That is probably the case, darksyde. I think that 5-10 years down the road you may even see Rock wrestle closer to a full schedule, especially if his Hollywood career cools off at any point. Wrestlers can be money makers and big time stars into their 50s now, just look at Ric Flair. The Rock must only be about 34 or 35 this year, so he has many options in front of him.

There is something strange going down between the Rock and WWE though. Rock's movies are being pushed on WWE tv like another Hulk Hogan comeback would be, but if he isn't under WWE contract then why the hell are they pushing it so hard? :confused2

Possibly because they're trying to repair the damage already done.
