View Full Version : What improvements can the Bandits make?

Now don't get me wrong...I'm happy that the team won tonight...but I'm a bit concerned that of a total of 240 minutes of game play, they seem to have shown up for only 45 of it: the first 2 quarters of the home opener and the last quarter of tonight. What can they do differently to get more consistent?
My suggestions: faceoffs-the team has been trying for years to improve their faceoff situation and even with rule changes, still have not found the right guy. In fact, I'd say it's worse this year with the rule changes!!
Goaltending: 10 against isn't bad, but I think that for next year, goaltending has got to be addressed in the draft if they can get someone good who's willing to spend their time for the league. Obviously, it's easier to get runners to transition from field to box but I wonder who's out there.
Coaching: I've said it before and I'll say it again. Darris may have the fire...but what got this team to 12-4 2 seasons ago was (ugh...help me) Terry Sanderson. I think that there could be better coaching on this team...but who can you get?
fire away boys and girls, what do you think?

Faceoffs should have been addressed last season.
There is a great goalie available in next years draft named Vinc (I think that's it), but I just hope he falls to us. I have a feeling he will be high on Philly's wish list. 15 years and counting for Dallas.
Coaching: Darris is great, Jacobs is getting a lot more than I expected from this D, but Troy has to do SOMETHING with this pp. It's been pathetic considering the offensive talent on this team.

Call me Darris' "boy" but you cannot say that Sawicki or Pile of whale-***** Wakeling was better. Terry Sanderson??? :puh: Another Wakeling. Sit down with Darris one nite and ask him about the team and he'll tell you it straight. Then be a ***** and ask the players to try and discredit it. Good luck. JT has had his ass chewed just the same as Billy D's. Nobody is "above" the team. Troy does need to get more creative with the PP but with all the shooters on this team it can't be easy. Dewey is as D as Fatso Sanderson and probably more. Toss in the respect that the guys have for Dewey that they didn't really have for Terry (c'mon, he was an "outsider) and this'll be an excellent D. Goaltending i'll agree with. Chugger is getting up there and Chico can't be a starter here. We prayed to get Cosmo here but SJ decided the price was worth it (good for them, poop for us). Vinc will end up anywhere but here unless Kurt pulls another miracle off. IMO Vinc still needs another season or 2 in OLA major to get semi-ready for NLL ball.

Faceoffs need to be addressed this season, before tonight would be good. I was hoping the Bandits could have picked up Mark Miya****a before the season, but that didn't happen.
Now Colorado has two good faceoff guys.
No way to looking for a goalie. Chugger should be okay for the next few season. I would look for a backup, but someone who could come in a start a game here or there, no someone to be the starter in the future. Granted I thought the best guy for the backup job was Quinner, but the Bandits must have thought different.
New radio play by play guy, someone who actually describes the play instead of telling the listeners over and over game that we are listening to the Bandits at Phildelphia Wings game while the play is going on. If not for Mearns I think most of us would be lost as to what is happening.

I would just like to see an honest effort night in and night out.To me (and I am not a Bandits insider) that is the most glaring problem. This team gets beat when it doesn't feel like putting out .Discipline at times can be non-existent and the smart clubs take advantage of the Bandits when at times they feel like being cave-men.This team has talent it should be fun to watch but it is meaningless when they don't give a 100%.

face offs are the big things right now.. we could score a few more goals a game if we won a few a few faceoffs and give up a few less goals....

I'll side with John Gurtler on this debate. He's not perfect but he's got the energy for it. So what if he missed a bit here and there it's better than nothing like before, REMEMBER? Jeanneret??? You sir are delusional. How 'bout we grade Gurtler and Mearnsie at the end of the season, maybe some of you will change your minds. Don't forget this nice little fact too, lax is a hellova lot faster than hockey, YOU try to call it!
Faceoffs were killing us up until Crosbie started taking draws Saturday nite. Still we could use an upgrade on the dot and the man we need is sittin' at home in Canada somewhere unsigned and possibly lookin' to play again. YOOHOO Kurt, sign Brad MacArthur NOW!!! That'll make up for the Derks "giveaway".

WRONG! TS was here for part of last season (then got the Rock HC job). 2 seasons ago Randy Chrysler was our D-coach on an interim basis (was on the bench for 1 game) so Darris I guess was wearing 2 hats and taking us to 12-4!?!
