Dusty Mangum made a 37-yard field goal as time expired and Texas (No. 5 ESPN/USA Today; No. 6 AP) edged Michigan 38-37 Saturday behind quarterback Vince Young in the first matchup of two of college football's elite programs.

Would have liked to see them win for the Big 10 but a blue loss never really hurts that bad.
Oh and I had Mich with the points so they lost and I made money off them.
Go Buckeyes!!

Anyone would be a fool if they think that kind of stuff doesn’t happen in all major colleges around the country. Like USC, Miami, Michigan, and many others. They need to keep all of the boosters away from the athelets.

What they need to do is pay those kids in a stipend or something. They make millions of them yet the kids can't afford to go out to eat.
If the gave each kid $3600 a year split up into a check every week they wouldn't have half the problems they do. i mean if I was a sweet athlete (which I am :D ) and the school got huge TV contracts and tickets sales and merchandiseing and I was broke I would probably take a few $100 handshakes too!

Funny, someone from Jersey calling other places a cesspool. :stuck:First of all I didn't call a place a cesspool. I said Ohio State's athletic program under the direction of Andy "it's all Clarett's fault" Geiger. Read.
Anyway just where might you be from. Please don't tell me the "mistake by the lake that is Oh hi oh. :googly: If so I hoope you're not ragging on anyplace.

there were two events of any legitimacy.
1. The OSU basketball player given money from the coach.
-the kid's family was in a dire financial situation, JO helped, and he payed the consequences. so did the team. BTW, it's not like Michigan is unfamiliar to that type of circumstance.
2. Troy Smith accepted money from a booster.
-It has happened (and been caught) before many times, it will happen again many times. Hopefully not at this university. He is paying the consequences.
that's it.
Clarett is not credible. ESPN is just out for a story.
Please don't bring up the credit transfer thing. Long story short, it's an unmerited pile-on.
Also "mistake by the lake" refers to Cleveland, and has nothing to do with Columbus. Though I happen to be from Cleveland, and love it as home, I will not brag about its virtues.
