Cherry was saying that what the Leafs need 2 or three "tough" guys like Tucker, Varada or Fisher, who can chip in 15 goals, agitate, etc. He also criticised Sundin's visor saying that's why he's not playing well.

I never doubted his "value" but I am certain he wouldn't have added any defensive help. In fact, the Leafs gave up one less goal against Ottawa than the usual without him.

Tucker is the one that you will really miss. Of course, when your average team age is somewhere around 45 you don't have the right to complain about injuries.

You might want to consider that the Queefs have disappeared on the road. With McCabe, they were about 50% more likely to win at home than on the road.

You might want to consider that the Queefs have disappeared against Western opponents, who they had a losing record against before McCabe got hurt.

You might want to consider that Toronto lost to Vancouver, Colorado, Minnesota, Phoenix and Ottawa. Ottawa is the best team in the league. Vancouver and Colorado are better teams and are two of the hottest teams in the league.

But look at the games....
-Auld was the 1st star in the Vancouver game
-Colaiacovo (McCabe's replacement) was the 3rd star in the Phoenix game
...and so on.

McCabe made a big difference in the other 4 games against Ottawa, didn't he?
Toronto was 0-4 in those games, but McCabe was 3-3-6. Yes, McCabe's scoring indicates that he must be a great defenseman. Housley must be a great defenseman. Norris winners like Rod Langway must suck because they had seasons without scoring a goal.
