Has the season opened yet? If not, when does it open?
I miss opening day sitting in my tree stand! Some of the most magical moments of my time in WNY!!!

You must be a pretty good shot to be able to sit in a stand in Alaska and shoot a deer in WNY. What do you use for a gun - an ICBM?

You can't miss hunting! I thought you had moose running around the city and you guys were allowed to shoot them as if they were rats! Moose any good? I'm not a big venison nut. Too gamy. Doesn't taste like chicken. lol
Maybe if we catch the moose/deer alive, boil 'im in some wing sauce, then carve him up, maybe that would work!

Wild, deer season has been open here in North Bay for over a week. Get this: On the front page of the North Bay Nugget, Tues. Nov. 14, it was reported that a hunter from Aylmer, Ont. had bagged what he thought was a 16 point buck last Monday just south of here. When he got to inspect the kill, it turned out to be a 16-point DOE...a female with antlers that dressed out at 195 pounds. Unfortunately the Nugget only publishes their top story of the day on canada.com, so the article is nowhere to be found on the web.
We've got a great deer population up here, definately more than the hunters can handle. Last winter our snow was really deep up here & deer were starving by the hundreds in the area because they had no shoots/saplings to eat, so they set up feeding stations. I was driving @ 30 mins south of where I live at dusk at the end of Feb last year & in a 30 minute stretch of road, I literally saw 50-75 deer coming out of the woods and into farmers fields looking for bits of hay strewn around.
Here's a picture I took that day from one of the feeding stations just outside of Restoule, Ont. I used my cheesy digital camera to snap this from @ 100 yds away.

Not since I was at Can86's place last week. Hey now! There's that line I just crossed.. about 10 miles back there! The line's a dot to me now. :D

Arctic,
Just got off the Kubota after mowing on the property I own north of here. Some punk buck scraped two feet of bark off the bottom of a 10' willow I've been driving out to water all summer. Nearly tipped it over. You can come down here and shoot him and his buds anytime-noone will ask/care about the season. I save my shooting for the groundhogs. By the way these damn deer watch me mow all year long, the place is crawling with them and I'm certain two of them are Dolphin fans. Bounty on 'em.

Speaking of deer! This was in todays paper. You can almost hear what the moose is thinking: "What kind of scrawny moose are you?" LMAO!!

Maybe I'll make a trip home next year for some bow and shotgun hunting.
Any of you guys ever hunt out in the Shelby area or in the Iroqois/Tonowanda/Oak Orchard Game refuge area? That's my neck of the woods.

To make you feel better, Sing!
It's the second week at deer camp, and all the gang is here...
We drink, play cards and shoot the bull, but never shoot no deer...
