The Canisius hockey team is really playing well--they're now 5-5-1 with the victory over UConn tonight at Buff State. This is a great team that Brian Cavanaugh (Canisius head hockey coach) has put together. Bryan Worosz, the goaltender, looks very strong, while the two freshmen (Ruberto and Kitchen) have been great as well.
I know much of the attention is on Niagara when it comes to college hockey in WNY, but Canisius is beginning to make a statement.

It's nice to see them playing well. To bad they don't have their own rink, I think that would help out with attendence and in turn probably help them get better players.

I just discussed that with a friend of mine at the game last night. We can afford to buy the Blue Cross/Blue Shield building but we can't build ourselves a hockey rink. What a shame.

BTW--HUGE game for Canisius coming up as they visit nationally-ranked Cornell next Saturday. A win for the Griffs would be absolutely gigantic for this program, possibly propelling them into the national spotlight with Niagara having a tough year right now at 5-8-0.
