Reports say he's been contacted, "just in case" Lou Holtz retires.
I hate the guy. But, honestly, he would do really well there. Hell, the guy won at freakin' Duke, for crying out loud!! In no way should SC force Holtz out - even for Spurrier. He turned that program around.
Thoughts, White Rabbit?
Anyone else?

HELLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!
The ole ball coach, would be awesome!!!
Great thing is, they are leaving it up to Lou Holtz who takes over and when. Lou Holtz will not leave this program in uncapable hands, AND he is VERY pursuasive!!!!
Only thing is, our offenseive players are not geared towards Spurrier. We have a couple young QB's who could learn .. mainly Syvelle Newton, but our stable of RB's are among the BEST in the nation!!! That's why we are number 10 in the nation in rushing, without having a single person in the top 20 individually, coz we have so many good ones. But, I would LOVE Spurrier to come in after Lou, OMG, WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Another thought ...
Spurrier and Foley (the Athletic director at Florida) never got along, and had a bad falling out. We play Florida every season, they are also in the SEC east ... everyone knows how competitive Steve Spurrier is ... so I think he would love to face the Gators every year.
Also, our defense ... it is young and VERY GOOD. We have a freshman CB, Ko Simpson (remember that name!!!!), he is second in the nation in interceptions. Very young and talented defense, great RB's, talented QB's ... a new coaches dream!!! And say Spurrier does come here .. he just has to leave Rick Minter (defensive coordinator) and the rest of the defensive staff in place, and not worry about the defense!!
And lastly, Mike McGee, our athletic director ... is not a control freak. He will give Spurrier full control of the team, in the sense of recruiting players and such ... something Foley didn't do. So it's a good program for Spurrier. They are also talking about North Carolina being an option, and this is a joke!!!! Our fans, stadium, atmosphere is so much better than theirs ... UNC will always be primarily a basketball school ... our team at USC is looking good and only getting better (he would have to rebuild the program completely at UNC), if it weren't for bad luck losses to Ole Miss and UGA, we would be 8-1 this season ... so if Holtz retires, I have a good feeling Spurrier might just be our new "ole ball coach." At least I hope :D

It's not going to make Gainesville happy. :)
Let me ask you this:does Spurrier's hiring make the Gamecocks a national power,or at least more respected? Me,I don't think the former's going to happen at least for a few years. They'll get more respect, definitely.
Your thoughts?

The UF/South Carolina game is in Columbia next year. Sounds like a roadtrip to me.

Read my thoughts above ... we WILL be a powerhouse in the SEC, I think Spurrier will bring the offensive spark and swagger we need, and I think Spurrier should leave Minter and the whole defensive staff alone ... if he does, FEAR THE CHICKEN!!!!
