Although Ken Roethlisberger has recieved the national spotlight for his performances in Pittsburgh's 6-1 season start Buffalo's J.P. Losman has also shown promise since being givin the starting job over the unproductive Drew Bledsoe. " When i first got here coach Mularky assured me the job is mine. He also put me at ease by telling me our defense is one of the best in the league and if we fail on third down- our D will get the ball back for us." Losman's not the only rook making headlines in Buffalo. Willis McGahee in seven games as starter has three 100yd. games for 502 yds.rushing putting him in the pack with the other star backs in the conference. " I'm doing what comes naturally to me. We'll get better. J.P Lee, (Evans) and i have learned a lot since week one and here we are hosting the Jets on Sunday with a chance to reach .500 with eight games to go."
Losman's emergence isn't a surprise to Bills brass. Tom Donohoe traded a first rounder to Dallas for him. " We felt the future is now for this franchise. The fans were ready for the change on offense and we felt we couldn't wait any longer " says Donahoe. Lossman- " from day one in camp the veterans have been great to me. Trey Teague, Chris Villiariel have been very supportive. Late in camp Troy Vincent sat me down in the locker room and told me how to better conduct myself around the veteran players. I didn't realize i was a little to-- well, lively after the play. I certainly didn't want to show anbody up so i toned it down for the last week and i think things have gone better."
The Bills host the first place Jets Sunday looking to avenge an early season loss and to reach .500 for the season.
