Picking on him because of "the U" for what reason?

Because they constantly supply the NFL with superstars while still having winning seasons year in and year out?

Because calling your university "the U" is retarded.

BTW, those last two games have had to hurt. :D

What's the bet for the big game this Saturday?

"THE Ohio State University" I don't mind as much. I can say "THE University of Virginia." I wouldn't call us "the U" though, that's :35Pete:

I don't believe Clarett's crap; I think he's just trying to get some pub. Tressel's a stand-up dude.

And yeah, I got lotsa chips in the bank. Whatcha wanna bet? :D

I believe him. I remember years ago them talking about how they were hooking up Andy Katzenmoyer (sp?) with golf classes so his grades would allow him to pay.

that was cooper, not tressel.

Clarett clearly has an agenda to get back at the school. One of the players who 'backed up' Clarett, Marco Cooper has already come out and say his words were taken out of context. Clarett has been a selfish player since high school. Academic Credits here sometimes have trouble trasferring because we are on the quarter system calander, not the semmester system. We also have a lot more classes than some universities (though maryland is pretty big and diverse in its own right), so some schools may not offer a class that was taken here. We also have a lot of really low level classes that nobody takes unless you fall asleep during the placement tests. perhaps he took some of those classes. if he wanted to, he could have gotten out of it easily. As far as staying eligable, there are plenty of classes here to take that as long as you show up to take the midterm and final, you should have no problem passing. anybody can take those classes.
Clarett is not simply trying to clear his name the GMs of the NFL. This statement hurts his standing in the draft if anything, and there is no reason to go public with it other than vengance against tOSU.

Don't get me wrong. I can't stand Clarrett. But I do believe some of what he is saying. I don't trust OSU.

They say "THE XXX state university" because usually it is the only officail state university in that state. I am not sure how accurate that is but it's what Al Michaels said on MNF.

It's the tone in which they say it. It's an arrogant cocky tone. Just like saying Miami is "The U"

Although when you think about it, their logo is a big U

mighty peace warrior
November 11th, 2004, 8:59:15 PM
you don't see a difference between The Ohio State University and The "U"

There are thousands of "U"s only one Ohio State.
