The NCAA has denied this poor kid re-entry into college football and the USC football team. This kid really got screwed and I hope his lawyers stick it to the NFL now. He should have been allowed in this past years draft imo.

WOW, I did not see that coming. I was sure they'd let him back in.

That's really terrible. The NCAA has done a lot of shady things lately, but this is really low. They could be destroying this kid's career.

That sucks!

He should bring a lawsuit against the NFL

That blows. First he is allowed in the NFL, and it looks like he'll be in, then the NFL gets the judge to make a ruling early and denies him access and now he's penalized by the NCAA for doing something that was allowed at the time.

The NCAA always tries to cause problems for somebody.

For once I think the NCAA is right. They were just following their own rules. You hire an agent, you lose you eligibility. And I don't think it is smart to challange the NFL at anything, because they are going to win.

Clarett challenged them.... and won.

Mike just followed and from all accounts it looked as if they would be in the draft. They were on every mock up until a couple days before the draft. The ruling after the NFL appeal came like 2-3 days before the draft after the NFL pushed for an early decision. AT the time Mike declared himself eligible, I was (as well as most football experts) about 95% sure that the rule would remain in effect this year.

MW got screwed big time IMO....

The NCAA has made me mad a lot lately....this, banning basketball teams from playing non college teams in exibition, not coming up with a playoff football system...I think the NCAA leadership sucks.

Mike Williams should be reinstated, but the NCAA did warn him, if the NFL wins the appeal, that he would not be able to come back.

His career is hardly screwed, he will be a first round pick next year, regardless of this. So he has to wait until he is what 21 to be a millionare, poor mike

Maybe, just maybe, he actually wanted to play for USC and help his teammates win a title. :D

I saw him on ESPN, he did not complain or call out the NCAA. He wasn't making excuses he just sounded real dissapointed. The furthest he went was that he said that he and Pete Carroll were led to believe that if he completed his classes that he would be put back in.

I'm not sure, but I thought it was the NFL that warned him that if they won the appeal, he would not get into the league.

It didn't seem to be cut and dried with the NCAA. They based there decision on two things...his academic eligibility (I don't know what the exact issue was), and whether he gave back all that he benefitted by signing with an agent. Besides the academic issue, they apparently don't believe he returned everything. Personally, I think they made up their minds long ago; these "reasons" are to give the appearance of fairness on their part.

I think it sucks, but I'm very impressed with his attitude and how well he's taking it. Some team is going to wind up next year with one hell of a player and person on and off the field.

Check out my thread in this forum about the "real" reason he was denied. It's really just a copout for them.

I agree that Williams put himself in a bad position. But the NCAA has some major hypocricy issues going on.
