MATCH DETAILS
The main event for Ballpark Brawl III will put two veterans, and fan favorites, of the original "Brawl" against each other. It will be "The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles squaring off against the Hardcore Legend, Sabu! And not in just any match, it will be a TLC, Table, Ladders and Chairs main event! A.J. Styles is one of the fastest rising superstars in wrestling today. He has been both the Ring of Honor and NWA/TNA Heavyweight Champion as well as the current TNA X-Division Champion. At Ballpark Brawl I (8/24/03), A.J. squared off against Kid Kash in the match of the night. Styles defeated Kash after using his finishing move, The Styles Clash from the top rope.
Sabu is a hardcore legend that has put his body through unbelievable amounts of pain for the fans. He helped put Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) on the map and his matches with fellow high-flyer Rob Van Dam led them to a 2nd runner-up position for the “PWI 1996 Match of the Year”. Sabu was a surprise wrestler in the main event of the original "Brawl." He teamed with Jeff Jarrett to defeat Raven and Disco Inferno.
Also wrestling at "Canadian Carnage" will be “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Joining NWA/TNA at its inception, Daniels instantly became an X-Division mainstay and is internationally recognized for his mastery of the sport of wrestling for over a decade. He has been in WCW, WWE, ECW and numerous Indy shows throughout the U.S. and Japan. In 2000, Daniels won the highly acclaimed "King of the Indies" crown. Along with that tournament win, "The Fallen Angel" has also won the ECWA Super 8 tournament in 2000, ROH Tag Team Titles tournament in 2002 and the Michinoku Pro Futaritabi Tag League in 2002.
Another superstar at Ballpark Brawl III will be the very talented high-flyer, The Amazing Red. Along with A.J. Styles, Red is commonly known as one of the forefathers of the X-Division in NWA/TNA. Late last year he suffered a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for several months. Since recovering from the injury, Red has re-established himself as one of the most popular wrestlers in NWA/TNA and has continued to be a high-flying phenom.
The first ever “NATURAL” Heavyweight Champion will be crowned at the August 14th show. The field of eight has been reduced to an unusual five. The five consists of Ron “The Truth” Killings, Abyss, Teddy Hart, Petey Williams and a mystery competitor to be named at the show. THE NATURAL belt is currently being constructed by Championship Leather and will not be seen until it is handed to the victor.
Ballpark Brawl III will also bring back two spectacular young stars that appeared at the July show – “Dangerboy” Derek Wylde and “Completely” Cody Steele. Wylde, with his valet the beautiful Jennifer Blake in his corner, went move for move with Teddy Hart in July while Cody had the unenviable task of facing the monster known as Abyss. Both impressed the Executive Committee and have been asked back to compete in a one on one encounter August 14th.
The show will also feature the return of Traci. Last year the woman, then known as Tracy Brooks, returned to her home area to compete against Trinity. Both sparked the crowd with their wrestling acumen and impressive visuals. This year she has issued an open challenge to any women in the building. Who will take her up on that challenge?
Jimmy “Mouth of South” Hart will also be back with his DJ Challenge. Last month Jimmy fell to the WGR Morning Show, eventually pinned in the ring by Puff. Can he change his luck? Who will accept his challenge?
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame. Appearing to sign autographs in support of the Hall will be the legendary WWF competitor George “The Animal” Steele.
