Missing the whole A-Rod trade and in doing so pissing off Nomar or not signing El Duque? Hernandez has been AWESOME since his return!

I'd say not signing Hernandez.

Tough to sign him when the Yankees doubled the offer from the Sox

Tough to sign him when the Yankees doubled the offer from the SoxThat's no excuse. It's the same thing that happened in the A-Rod fiasco. The Sox are just too cheap to compete with the Yanks. It doesn't have anything to do with having the money to pay these guys, it's being willing to pay the money. You can't tell me the Red Sox are financially unable to match any offer the Yanks could make to any player in baseball.
The Red Sox need to wake up and realize that if they're ever going to compete with the Yanks they have to pony up the cash. That's the only way they're going keep these players they want from going to New York.
