The Yankees announced Friday night that Giambi was placed on the 15-day disabled list and will be treated immediately. The team, citing privacy issues, declined to divulge where the tumor is or what type of treatment Giambi will undergo.

Thankfully, Giambi wasn't diagnosed with anything fatal.

There seems to be some optimism that this is treatable and he can return to the club this year. Its obviously serious, and hopefully he comes out of it OK.

I'm glad also it wasn't something serious. I kept thinking it was his body going through withdrawals from no 'roids. I guess he should be back by late August. :)

As much as I hate the Yankees, I'm glad to see it isn't fatal.
