My wife and I are shopping for a travel trailer, anyone have one or know anything about them? I have to get either a small one with tent popouts on the end or a tent trailer. It is all i can pull with my Exterra

I've known a number of people with the Pop up kind, and everyone seemed to like them. I think their as easy, if not easier to set up as a tent.
We were camping last weekend, and alot of people had the traval trailers that were being pulled by cars, minivans and SUV's. They look to be about as easy to pull as a boat. If you're looking at a 5th wheel, you'll need a pretty strong truck.
We still tent camp. we woke up at 2:30 Monday morning to heavy rains and 70 mph winds. I was amazed the tent held up through it, and that our boys slept through it.
BTW, while on the subject, the family we were with and us were talking about camping in Colorado next year for the 4th. We were talking about the PIke's Peak area. Anyone know any good spots? It can't be too primitive, our kids are still small and we bring too much junk with us to back pack it all in.

i cant stand tent camping but my wife and kids love camping, this is our compromise. we wen't tent camping at Mt. Hood here in Oregon, and its the last time i will sleep in a tent, or eat in one.
im not looking for a 5th wheel though, i would have to buy a new rig. Thanks for the link though

We purchased a Starcraft Travel Trailer http://www.starcraftrv.com/2003/lightweight/travelstar.html (19CK) this spring which is kind of a mix between a pop-up and standard trailer..........We just love it.
We Had a pop-up for 10 years and the travel trailer is as great an improvement as going from tent to the pop up.
It is lightweight; we tow it here in Colorado mountains with a Honda Pilot and have no problems.

what are some of the advantages you have found between the pop-up and your new one?

#1 Advantage - Room. The Pop up got too small with more than 2 adults. More storage for things you bring with you
#2 - ease of set up and tear down
#3 - A real fridge that works on either propane or electric and an oven
#4 - A better refuge when the weather gets nasty....thunderstorms here can get nasty
#5 - It extends the camping year...we started end of April (was mid-late may before) and hope to go into late Oct this fall.
