If Paille isn't signed, he'll go back into the draft. If Vanek isn't signed by June 1st, what happens? Does he go back to the University of Minnesota for another year, or can he still be signed by the Sabres after June 1st? Come on Darcy. Let's get Paille signed!

Nothing happens to Vanek. He has a year of eligibilty left whereas Paille does not.

I know that part, I just don't know if we can still sign Vanek after June 1st. Does anyone know?

The Sabres own Thomas Vanek's rights up until June 1st the year after he leaves Minnesota.

Vanek just finished up his Sophomore season at Minnesota. if he stays in school for his last two years, then the Sabres would own his NHL rights until June 1, 2007.

The 2 year rule only applies to players drafted out of the CHL (OHL, WHL, and QMJHL).
