In the end, this series will be remembered for too many
missed opportunities, too many ill-timed goals allowed by Rochester’s goaltender, Ryan Miller, and too much Flaherty.

Meanwhile, Miller allowed eight goals — including two softies in Game 4 — on 75 shots. He wasn’t why Rochester lost this series, but he wasn’t a difference maker. Few young goaltenders are. Of course, neither were Rochester’s goal scorers.

Jason Pominville and Chris Taylor didn’t have a goal in the series. Pittis — who will have nightmares about the wide-open shot he fired wide in the third period — Norm Milley and Jason Botterill had only one each.

What made the goal sting was that it came just 22 seconds after Derek Roy had tied it 1-1 for Rochester, whipping a shot over Flaherty’s shoulder he never flinched on.

Not laying blame here, but some info about how key prospects performed when the season was on the line.

The Amerks scored 5 goals in their 4 losses to Milwaukee.

To me, that sums up that series pretty well.

Miller did get outplayed by Flaherty. But, Miller did play well enough for the Amerks to win the series.

Miller did play well, but he sure picked some bad times to allow goals. That goal last night, 20 seconds after Rochester tied it up really hurt. After seeing him in the playoffs, it looks to me that he needs more time in Rochester to develop.

Flaherty elevated his game and took over the series.

Miller didn't.

But, Milwaukee's defense was a lot more solid. I heard that on all 3 Ads goals last night there was a failed clearing attempt that preceded the goal.

Miller didn't win the series by himself. And he didn't get a lot of help outside of Game 2, either.
