Take a look at the MLB standings right now and you'll see:
LA leads the NL West, San Diego is 16-9.
Every team in the NL Central is .500 or better.
Philly is underachieving bigtime.
Texas is 17-10! (WHAT???????)
Kansas City is terrible, last in AL Central
Baltimore has started strong.
What is your biggest surprise so far in this 2004 MLB season?

I'd have to say Texas being in 1st. I think it's pretty cool though, especially cuz they dumped A-Rod and now are doing way better. It's kinda similar to the Mariners situation after they lost A-Rod. He must be bad luck or something...

Ya, bad luck. Yanks in first place, again. Early season jitters are over. I agree with Texas as the surprise. Kenny Rogers an Ace again? OMG! A great bunch of young hitters. I also never thought Seattle would be as bad as they are.

The biggest surprise is Seattle being so bad this year. Granted it is early, but I thought Seattle would be one of the best teams in MLB this year. Also the Central is a surprise seeing that the Brewers and Pirates are really bad teams. Got to throw out Roger Clemons too. I can't stand the guy, but every year I expect him to fall apart, and he keeps winning and pitching well.
I know it is early, but I picked San Diego to have a good seson, so am feeling good right now.

Seattle looks so old, I thought they'd suck this year but not this bad.

I'd say Texas being good and Philly being bad are the team shocks to me.
The struggles of Roy Halliday and Derek Jeter are my player suprises.

Doc got his 3rd win of the season last night for Toronto, so he is back up to .500. I think he will be okay, he just has to stop giving up homeruns, which has been his major problem so far this year. But seeing he is pitching on 3 days rest, the wins will start adding up and he will get to 20.

hopefully he won't burn out carrying such a load. He's a great pitcher.
