Pedro will pout his way to the Bronx during the offseason.

That's nice. Especially when we know he can't take a pay cut according to union rules (see A-Rod trade discussions).
He can defer, but not take a cut.

He is talking about a deferral (he calls it a loan), not a cut.
From what I’ve heard the issue with a Pedro contract is the Red Sox can’t get insurance on his arm so they don’t want to front that much money without the security blanket of insurance.
Good for Manny to say this although I’d question if his agent would actually allow it when the two sides sit down.

The Sox have not put an offer Pedro's way. I love Pedro but he always seems to try to pull the fans in the middle of things, also if someone wants to pay him 16-20 mill a year well that's fine and dandy as Pedro has already made 90 mil with this current deal. I just don't understand sometimes with athlete's how much is enough, I would like Pedro to finish his career as a Red Sox but if he does not want to stay here I'm sure the world will not end.

It's funny. Pedro is a great pitcher, no question about it. But I don't like the way he talks to the media only when it suits his purpose, like with the contract. Then, as you say, he brings the fans into it. Does he talk about the fans at other times?
I'll tell you what - I would not want the Yanks to throw big money his way to bring him to NY. I think he would be more trouble than he is worth, despite being a great pitcher.
In the interest of full disclosure, some of my thinking is colored by the fact that I do not think Pedro is the pitcher he once was - his arm is a question mark, especially over a multi year contract.

Pedro is not the pitcher he once was but he still has 4 good pitches he can throw so when he has control he still is one of the best in the game. He is kind of like Greg Maddux was 10 years ago.
