Sorry I don't know of anywhere... but his release is sort of side-arm (you can see it in some pictures). It actually reminds me of Dan Marino's throwing motion except Marino threw it right next to his ear while River's motion is a little further away from the body. But River's release seems almost as fast.

ESPN had highlights of the Tangerine Bowl game on the site for a while, but it's off now. He had an amazing performance in the Bowl game. He has a short quick whippy release. The side arm delivery actually helps him get rid of it quickly. Sorry can't find any highlights though.

His delivery is nothing like Marino's. Rivers "shotputs" the ball, like he's throwing a dart, a sideways heave of the ball. Regardless, it's been effective and he's only had like 4 balls batted down in 4 years.

I don't know if you've never thrown shot-put or are just a crappy darts player but those two are nothing alike. Anyways I didn't mean that River's motion was a carbon copy of Marino's, merely that both had unorthodox methods of throwing that allowed them to have amazingly quick releases

I'm a class 7 ranked darts professional, and shotputted my way through college. Anywho, they are similar styles of delivery, with most of the force coming from flexing the elbow joint, kinda like jarts and horseshoes put together.

When I wrote my response I was really pretty sure that you would turn out to be the god of darts and shot-put. Either way... Rivers and Marino both have quick releases which is an obvious asset in the NFL today.

Hey pi2000, small world. I am not a professional but have played numerous times in the ADA National Regionals and done pretty well for an amateur. Last time I played the Nationals were held in Chicago, might have seen you there. Steel Tipped only, hehe, I do not consider Soft as "real darts".
