From our "favorite" guy at CBS sportsline.com, Pete Prisco.

The Patriots and Bills are both trying to trade up to get a big-play receiver. The Bills have the 13th pick, and would love to move up to possibly get a shot at one of the premier receivers in the draft, Roy Williams of Texas or Pitt's Larry Fitzgerald. New England, which has two first-round picks (21 and 32), is also looking to move up to possibly get one of those two. They have talked with Detroit about the sixth overall pick. Both teams need big-play receivers, so these discussions make a lot of sense.

Have already talked to Detroit? I guess this means a later round QB if Detroit okays this. The Pats could offer ALOT, if they really feel like they want this pick.

---What does everyone think? This is not in the rumor section either.

Sorry if this has been posted, I have not seen it.

I don't understand why we would have to trade up to get a WR when the draft is so deep at WR. In my opinion we have bigger needs.

I don't think they are trying to trade up to get a reciever. I think they are trying to trade up to get a TE.

If they trade up, it's to make sure they get either Rivers or Roethlisberger. There are so many top-flight WR's available they can get one anywhere in their first two picks without moving up.

I would NOT move up for a WR. Not because it is deep, but because none of them are worth moving up for. Yes, the draft is deep at WR, but don't for a minute think that there will be GREAT WRs in the 2nd round. There might be good value guys, but they won't be the same quality prospect as a top 15 pick.

BEFORE people tell me about Anquan Boldin and Peerless Price, please note that I didn't say that they couldn't necessarily find a quality starting WR in round 2. I did say that the odds of finding one go down significantly in round 2 (or later).

I think that there could be good WR prospects in round 2, but there is also the possibility that there will be a big run late in round 1 and early round 2 on these WRs.

Re TE, I would not trade up for Winslow even though I think that he is a top talent. TE, S and OG are second-class positions in the NFL. TE, in particular, is soemthing that can be worked around with 3 WR sets and no TE if there isn't a good TE available. Of course, it is preferrable to have a top dual-threat TE who can block and be a threat in the passing game, but those are few and far between. Before taking a "pass-catching, no block TE", consider using extra WRs because in almost all cases, any WR will be a better threat than even a pass-catching TE.
