This will be a huge game for both teams. Hopefully we are on the better end of the stick this time.

No, it's only huge for the Sabres, if their play-off hopes are still alive. The Leafs are already in.

Home ice is overrated in the playoffs. The Queefs should aim to play Ottawa, regardless of whether it is home or away.

I don't get why people discount home-ice? If your coach matches lines, which many do, you get last change, which is huge. Also, your bench is closest to your defensive zone for two periods, as opposed to one.

If home-ice doesn't mean anything in hockey, why are coaches generally happy with a .500 record on the road?

Look at the record of the higher seeds of playoff teams the last few years. In the playoffs, home ice is much less signifcant than the regular season.

I might call it a 'big' game for the Leafs. But it is huge for the Sabres. Home ice is much less important than running the risk of teeing it up in 10 days.

Who had home ice between the Sabres and Queefs in 1999?
Who had home ice between the Sabres and Bruins in 1999?
Who had home ice between the Sabres and Sens in 1999?
Who had home ice between the Sabres and Flyers in 2001?
Who had home ice between the Sabres and Pens in 2001?

If home ice was so big an advantage in the playoffs, I don't think you'd see as many "upsets" as you have and will see.

You are comparing home ice in the playoffs with home ice in the regular season.

Granted, you've mentioned advantages of being home. The big disadvantage is dealing with the pressure of being at home, and being expected to win. That pressure doesn't exist in the regular season.
