I realize FA is not over, and there's still June 1st cuts, but there's a lot of pressure on this draft to fill holes. People talk about WR and DE and QB. But if you're looking at what will make the biggest impact on THIS season you've got to start with OL. Signing Chris Villarrial was a nice addition, but anyone who watched all the games last year has to know that he will not solve all the problems there, nor will McNally. And if additions are not made to the OL you could start Moss and Owens at WR and it wouldn't matter.
Here's what would make me feel better. Snag Kevin Donnalley from Carolina to play LG. Yeah, he's old but he's still got a year or two left in the tank, he can play and the price should be reasonable. Then unless Winslow drops to 13, I say trade down to 24 or 25 and draft Jake Grove. Grove could be the surest pick in the entire draft, a guy that produced on the field and has impressed scouts at workouts with his athleticism. He would be a bigger upgrade at center over Teague day 1 than Will Smith would be over Kelsay. And it's the offense that needs fixing most, not the D. We can take a receiver in round 2; if we want a real speed guy like Evans we'll need to move up to the top of the round, or sit tight and hope a Woods, Clayton, or Jenkins falls to 43. The DE we need could be had in rd 3 in Issac Hilton. Then take either Schaub or Pickett as a QB prospect in rd 4.

yeah you are right, our defense isn't bad and we havent seen what kelsay can do yet. if we can get center or another guard, i think that drew bledsoe would go back to pro bowl form.

I don't have a problem with considering Jake Grove, but Teague is a looong way from being the biggest problem on this team. I would go so far as to say that he is in the middle of the pack as far as starting centers in the NFL. Certainly he isn't the best, but he is definately not in the bottom 25%, either (of course, that is my opinion).
I'd stay the heck away from guys like Isaac Hilton. EVERY year there are fast undersized guys from low levels of competition who are neither DEs or LBs. Very few of them ever pan out. I wouldn't even consider drafting him until the at least the 4th round. Yes, I know someone will take him in the 2nd or 3rd. Good for them...

Lets also rememnber that Teague never played center in the NFL until he came here. That being said we have not had a legitimate O-line coach for 3 years.. McNally is smarter than all of us together... He and the Bills will have the best possible line on the field come Sept.. Wether it's the draft or not.. As for Grove ???? He is unproven so I take best player avail at #13 and In round #2 as well....

Our needs:
DE - Sign Tony Brackens
Future QB - Draft Losman/someone other than big 3 in round 2/3
TE - See if K. Winslow SR. can still run under a 5.0 (he's only, what 47, maybe he'd like to be the first father/son to play in the league at the same time)
OL - BIGGEST NEED!!! Bledsoe moves like he has Grandma and Grandpa tied to his back. Draft J. Grove.

Grove is a pick I have been hoping for on the boards for weeks, but I think any pick with him in the 1st round is too high. He will probably be around in the high second.
I also agree with trading down, unless TD really wants a "QB of the future".

Do you want to know why the Jaguars cut Brackens... HE SUCKS! He really has got nothing left. Even playing next to DT Jon Henderson (1st rounder), DT Marcus Stroud (1st Rounder), and Hugh Douglass (Buttload of Pro-Bowls, though he had an off year) he only registered 32 tackles, though b/c O-Lines were worried about his teammates he picked up 6 garbage sacks. Our D-Line isn't as penetrating as the Jags therefore Brackens would be another Erik Flowers for us

You're right. There's really noone left out there for FA guards unless the Bills want to bring Nails back. But he's got injury issues (ankle and knees).

The value of trading down:: According to one draft-value table (that someone on this forum forwarded to me- I forget who), we could trade our 1st round #13 for the #21 picks in the first and second round. We could then pick up Veron Carey in the first round and have the big mauling LG we need. We could then use the #11 and #21 in the second round to pick up a speed WR and either a development QB, TE or DE. This fills most of our holes with quality players. We are helped in this because there is a lot of extra qualtiy WR available this year and there is a good crop of 2nd tier QB's. Sound like a plan to me.

I think Teague has the ability to be a decent center. Plus I don't think Bills would have picked up his option if he wasn't going to play center. Therefore I doubt we draft Grove.
I personally think McNally will be a big boost to the oline. He has made solid lines with a lot less than we have here. I think McNally can make Jonas and Mike into great bookend tackles as long as they stay healthy. I would look out for Sullivan at guard. He has the physical tools. Now if McNally can help him with the rest of his game he could be solid.
I say WR in first. When Moulds went down, we had no weapons at all.

McNally is a fine coach, but he can't turn water into wine as Giants fans can tell you from last year.
I hope I'm wrong and you're right about Teague. It looks like we're going to find out in any case. But that wouldn't stop me from drafting Grove, who can play guard AND can shotgun snap. And if I'm right, we move Grove to center next year and sign someone else for LG. Sullivan struggled inside in 2002 pass blocking and passed on a chance to compete with 7th rounder Pucillo for the starting position at RG last year so he could play backup tackle, which says he doesn't want to play guard period. Not for me thanks.
