Hey Bduff,
No doubt leetch is gonna help the leafs in the playoffs, but damn man do you think they gave up enough for him?

i think its a great deal for the leafs. Neither of those prospects are on the leafs A-list of prospects.

Seems like a lot to give up for an aging, injury prone Defenceman.

Compare it to the Gonchar deal, both the Queefs and Bruins gave up 1st and 2nd rounders, which are almost identical draft positions.

So you are left with the Queefs getting a conditional pick (no idea about the conditions), but dealing Kondratiev and Immonen, while the Bruins dealt Shaone Morrison.

Would you deal Morrison for Kondratiev and Immonen? I wouldn't, but then again Gonchar is better than Leetch. I'm not at all enthused about Kondratiev as a defensive prospect, at least not in the short term. But it's closer than you think, because all three have question marks around them.

The big difference in this deal is that Leetch is an UFA and Gonchar is a RFA. Boston did better IMO.

i think leetch is signed through next year lala, i read that otday. The game check your stats man, tell me why leetch is injury proned again? I agree i would rather have had Gonchar but that would have cost a lot. maybe stajan.

The conditional pick may be based on an option Leetch holds.

i'm sure he will want to play here after this year, they must have workes something out. Who even knows if there will be hockey next year anyway

How can you guys diss Leetch. If he came to Buffalo, everyone on this board would be flipping out. He is a great defenseman...

i know wally tuggs but that is typical of soem of the guys on this board, they are all about the "future" the leafs gave up 2 unproven middle of the pack prospects and it is too mcuh for a hall of fame defenseman. i will never understand some of you, if lafontaine and a few others were running the sabres you would have a team stocked with 20 year old prospects and finish last every year. (actually that sounds pretty similar to what you have right now)

Ouch Bduff!

Unfortunately that's true! Wish the sabs had some more money to play around with.

it does suck pigpen but its not my fault.

no it's not your fault Bduff. More power to ya man.

My gripe with the leetch trade is that i don't think the leafs have a chance in hell at getting anywhere in this years cup. I guess the trade will be based on how much he helps out. If the leafs win the cup this year nobody will ever talk about it again. If they get bumped in the first round there's gonna be a whole bunch of distraught canucks up there, eh?

thats totally fair, i don't think the elafs will win the cup either, however i do think leetch relaly helps their Blue line and i will be shocked if the leafs go out in the first round this year.
