I don't see Marty being dealt. I think Darcy envisions a 3 headed goalie monster in Buffalo. I am not sure we will ever trade these goalies. Yeah Zhitnik will probably be elsewhere making the Sabres the only team to play without defensemen since the development of the position.

I think the Sabres management and ownership are in the thinking that after this new CBA is hammered out they will be coming out of it all rosy. Since the future of hockey in Buffalo is in jeopardy there thinking can't be to spend more money. I don't know if anyone listens to Mike Schopp in the afternoons, but the other day he made a great point. If this team doesn't make the playoffs this year, which is looking more likely, and then the NHL shuts down for a year or two, what makes anyone want to come to watch this product. They can't leave that bad taste in the mouths of it's customers and expect them to forget.

Another thing, Regier's famous saying, "we aren't going to make a trade to make the fans happy." Is there a better reason than to make the people that give you money happy?

Its sad but if this team finishes above .500, its a very successful season. They play in the toughest division in the NHL and have not addressed their #1 weakness on the ice, a goaltender that can play 60+ games, winning 2/3rds of them!

How would you address that?

one thing is who would even want biron, arguably the most inconsistent goalie ive ever seen...also, i really dont think buffalo is as bad financially as some other teams as far as the CBA is concerned...the sabres are in tenth place in the conference and still have had 11 or 12 sellouts at HSBC Arena...thats not bad... i would look for teams like Carolina( the attendence in CAR for one of the sabres games was just over 7000 while we sold out a game against the canes), Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Florida to fold before the Sabres ever came close to folding. If the sabres are competitive there will always be a hockey market in buffalo... a much bigger market than some of the smaller cities...a few years ago buffalo was up to 9th in the league in attendence. Besides, i still have hope that the CBA will be settled.
