Why should Drury be the captain? He's been a bum for Buffalo this year, IMO. I was excited when we signed him, but he makes a lot of mistakes on the ice. He does make some plays, but doesn't always do the little things right. Did you ever notice how many of his passes don't hit the intended target, or how many of his clearing attempts don't get out of the zone?

He should've been named permanent captain last time he got this monthly crap. I've thought all along it should be him, but Briere really played well with the C. It should be one of those two guys. Lindy needs to stop with this rotating crap.

While I kind of wanted Hecht to get the "C", maybe this will spark Drury into a Briere type run.

Well.....Maybe this team could get some sort of direction by assigning a leader and sticking with him. What does this new captian say, when changed month by month??

I think they should let Breire keep the "C" until someone plays well enough to take it from him. :gangster: :gangster:

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong, fweber. You're calling the guy with the most guts and drive of anyone on the team a bum because you've seen him miss a few passes? Come on.

This guy leaves his guts out on the ice 80 out of 82 games a season. Him and Briere have the same attitude when it comes to losing. No other two players are as vocal about it on the team.

He stands in front of the net. He takes beatings. He has fire in his eyes every game. Don't downplay his value because of a few passes and a few missed clearing attempts. What about every time he has cleared the zone, such as on a penalty kill, or every time he's completed a pass such as his 25 assists?

He's getting his second chance at being Captain because he has the intangibles necessary to be one.

Fire??? You're nuts! He hates playing in Buffalo and it's obvious. I don't mean to say that he's a horrible player, but there are several other guys on this team that have played better and harder than him this season... Briere, Hecht, and Dumont all deserve the "C" over Drury. And it's not just a few passes or a few clearing attemts. This guy gets paid a lot of dough for what he's supposed to do. In my opinion, he's not doing it well enough. I wish we could trade him to a contender, but who wants his contract?

What's he supposed to be doing? Scoring 35 goals? Getting 50 assists? He was acquired because this team lacked everything that he's about. Attitude, grit, hard work, leadership, and clutch scoring in the playoffs.

Too bad Regier didn't address other aspects of the team to get us there.

If you can't see Drury's work ethic, there's nothing I can say to change your mind.

You don't pay that kind of cash just for grit. If so, Curtis Brown and Adam Mair would be making $4 Mil. per year. He's supposed to have talent to go with the work ethic. Again, I never said he was lazy. But it seems clear to me that his heart is not into it. He was brought here to show leadership and be a playmaker. He has been good in the locker room, from what I undersatnd. However, I disagree with you about him playing hard 80 of 82 games. I've seen many lackluster efforts from him this year.

As much as I'd like to see Drury get the "C", but I have a feeling it could be Taylor Pyatt.

I agree with Thumper, Drury will be the first Sabre to benefit if Miro is moved, since ANYONE with heart would be an improvement.

Drury hates playing in Buffalo? Where do you get that?

Drury has played very hard all year.

Drury is overpaid, but that doesn't mean he doesn't give it his all every shift, because he does.

His strengths are his effort, his speed and his grit.

His weaknesses are his inability to stand up (that was a joke), his contract and his hands and improper reads while backchecking.

Drury is the hardest working person to put on a Sabre uniform since michael peca...oh wait.. he was captain too... I was at the Islander game last friday and drury was one of the only players diving for pucks and giving up his body for the team...he fully deserves the "C" on his jersey.

Read the ESPN article on Drury, you'll see he loves it here, and wants to win a cup here. And I love it, it validates the jersey of his I bought, with the "C" on it.:D

I wonder if he's been a calming presence in the locker room during this skid.

I'd love to know what you're basing your "he hates playing in Buffalo" comment. He plays as hard as anyone on the team and is also 3rd in assists and 4th in points. He gets paid to be a top 2 lines player (he is), provide leadership, (it seems like he is,) and provide grit (he does). I've admitted that he's one of my favorite players plenty of times, but being strictly objective he would be a good choice for Captain. In fact, the only other person I would give it to would be Briere.

Drury had 2 goals tonight in his re-debut (so to speak) as captain.

IMO I think Drury and Briere show the most guts and passion to be the "C" Dumont deserves the A, as does Kalinen (Spelling)

I think that Drury should be the captain. He brings all of the intangibles to the table, and plays his heart out.

OK... so Drury looked good last night. Of course he has to make me look bad! I'm glad he played well and hope he continues to do so. I still believe that to this point in the season he hasn't performed up to his potential. Obviously, the folks on this board think that he has. I happen to disagree.

He probably hasn't performed up to his potential, as he's below career highs, but he sure as hell has put forth an effort.

It's fine that you disagree. But didn't just make you look bad because of his game last night. He was already making you look bad because of the effort he's displayed all season.

If he hasn't been a consistant leader with a true effort for most of the season, he wouldn't be the only Sabre to have the C twice this year.

He and Briere are the two players that are capable of being Captain's on this team.

I think it will be up to the players as to who they pick for the captaincy next season. Drury or Briere will get the C, with the other player getting an A, along with probably a defenseman getting the other A.
