Basically:
Hawks get Sheed and Wesley Person
Blazers get Ratliff and Abdur-Rahim
Call me crazy, but I love this move for Portland. Most have questioned it so far, but I think Randolf and Abdur-Rahim will be a solid 1-2 punch, and having both Dale Davis and Ratliff inside is a solid corps of paint-D. I like this, now the Blazers need to dump Stoudamrie.
What do you guys think of the trade? Who got the better end? Did both teams make solid progress? Bad move on both sides?

smart move by both teams. The Blazer management had to get rid of 'Sheed, who had become the scapegoat for everything wrong with the Blazers in the fans eyes in Portland. Paul Allen and Bob Whitsett ignored the fans values here for years and it has bit them in the butt the last couple seasons with attendance. This town used to be all about the Blazers and now people don't care and primarily blame Whitsett Bonzi Wells and Sheed. Now they are all gone and fans will probably slowly return to the Rose Garden, as the new GM Nash kept his promise.
Shareef if nothing else seems like a good charecter guy, and he has talent enough to make it seem less one sided.
The Hawks get to "try again" (how many times have they tried?) Salary cap space seems more important in the NBA than anything else to some teams.
i just hope the Knicks don't find a way to get Sheed, who doesn't care enought to ever reach his potential.
As soon as the Blazers get rid of Ruben Patterson i will take my kids back to the Rose Garden again.

NBA trade (http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1076368217495&call_pageid=969907729483&col=970081562040)
since no one has posted this, what do you guys think about the Rasheed Wallace and Wesley Person for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff and Dan Dickau.
I personally think this helps both teams
portland gets rid of a cancer, gets back a Rahim who if doesn't work his contract ends in two years, wiht Ratliff they get a good center that can rebound (which he was with the raps which still can happen if the rumours are true or it can be Harrington)
atlanta gets a star player (when he wants to be) plus, they get someone whos contract ends this year and a three point shooter

Great deal for the blazers. Now they just got to get rid of Bongamire and they will be set. In the deal they got a 20 10 guy in Shareef. and more importantly he is clean cut. Also the 2nd best shot blocker in the nba in theo. And a very talented backup point gaurd that i love in Dan Dickau
Good job blazers
