Here is the Cliff's Notes version of the interview:

On trading Biron while he's hot: Right now it's all about winning hockey games and Regier doesn't foresee a deal involving Biron because he has been a big reason why the team has been winning lately.

On making trades: He said he's always looking to improve the hockey club. He didn't want to get backed into a corner, but it sounded like he'd rather try and upgrade the defense with the injuries that they have been dealing with.

On trading Zhitnik who will be an UFA over the summer: Regier said he'd like to keep Zhitnik and try and sign him to an extension. Although, he said it could be tough to get a deal done because of all of the uncertainty with the CBA.

On signing draft picks: Regier would like to sign Paille, Klepis, Vanek, and Kryukov over the summer. He said that Paille was the only guy that could re-enter the draft. Although, I believe Klepis has to be signed as well as he was drafted out of the WHL.

Regier also said that he felt it was a mistake to have 8 defensemen on the NHL roster to start the season and that it may have stunted the growth of players like Campbell and Tallinder. He also said that Zhitnik has been instrumental in Kalinin's development this year.

If you listen to Jim Kelley it sounds like Regier is calling GMs, but they don't want what Regier has to offer up.

It's bad enough that he hasn't done anything but then to go out in public and preach that he is looking for opportunities to improve the team in all areas. Where has he made any attempt to improve the team? :barf:

Maybe he's tried to make deals and other GMs aren't interested in the players he has to offer up.

Or perhaps he's had deals that he could of done, but Quinn and Golisano nuked them based on the money involved.

Without knowing the behind the scenes stuff you can't say he's not trying to improve the team.

All we can say is that he hasn't done anything to improve the team.

Those are two completely different things.

Called up Roy and Bartovic.. he could have just sat with "experience" and had Taylor and Botterill still in the lineup.
